| The Stranger She was married, but he knew right from the start that her marriage was wrong for her. He had a way of sensing these things about people. She dedicated herself to her family and even to her husband, but could never be totally happy. Through the years she too had come to realize that her husband was not her soul mate. He did not treat her unkindly but did not, or perhaps could not, give to her the love she so craved. And for many years she had held this inside of her, keeping her thoughts and dreams of the love she so wanted to be a part of to her. They met at a party just before the holidays. Everyone was mingling and seemed to be enjoying the closeness of other people. Her husband was busy chatting with some of the men he knew, so again she was left to find her way through the group of friends alone. As she was talking with some friends she had glanced out toward the balcony. She saw him standing there alone, looking out over the lights of the town below. Though not understanding why, she could not take her eyes from him. He wasn't young, nor was he old but there was an air about him that pulled her. And the force was strong that moved her out the doorway toward him. She glanced back to see if her husband was observing her. Seeing him disappear into the study with his friends, she walked out on the balcony. Standing at the railing she looked out to see what had his attention. It was only a few seconds before she felt his gaze upon her. It was that feeling one gets when without seeing they know they are being stared at. He turned toward him to find that he indeed was watching her. He did not look away when she looked into his eyes, but smiled. She felt herself blush, not from him watching but from the effect his smile had on her. She was surprised at her reaction. It had been quite sometime since she had experienced the sensation of warmth. It was a pleasant feeling, reminding her that she was alive, a woman that still was passionate and with her own desires. They had just been too long suppressed. When he spoke is voice was gentle but strong. He had the voice of a man confident and secure in his masculinity. His words brought another blush to her face. It was if he knew her thoughts. "What is troubling a lovely lady such as you?" he asked. He was calm and controlled as if nothing could discomfort him. She replied, "What makes you think I am troubled by anything?" "Do you always answer a question with another question?" he said gently as he continued to gaze into her eyes. She had the distinct feeling that he was looking through them and right into her heart, reading her thoughts. She blushed again. "The first thing I always look at with people is their eyes. They have so much to say. And yours say so much to me, many things good and bad. Though I could be wrong I think not." His voice and words had her spellbound. What was it about this strange man that had such a powerful effect on her? She replied, "And just what are they telling you about me? Do I seem so easy as to be taken in by this?" He replied, "I see that you are searching for something missing, something you have always desired but have never found. I see that though on the outside you appear happy, you are not complete without this that you seek." She could not speak for a bit as he seemed to say words that described exactly what was on her mind. Was it that obvious? Could everyone see this on her face? And in defense she said, "You are somewhat presumptuous, to insist you can read my thoughts." "Not at all m'lady, he replied, moving closer to her, then reaching out and placing his hand over hers that was resting on the railing. His touch was like fire, racing up her arm, and spreading into her body again kindling the feeling she had not felt is so long. It was a pleasant feeling but at the same time she felt a fear. She glanced around to see if anyone was watching them. "He cannot see us." he said as he gently caressed her hand. "He is still inside with his friends. Such a shame that he would leave a lady such as you alone and unprotected." She did not move her hand from beneath his but again acted on her learned instinct and said, "I am a married lady and should go back inside before people begin to make their little talk about our being out here like this." He smiled as he watched her turn to go, then suddenly called to her. She turned and looked at the smile on his face. He told her, "M'lady I am here for you, a gift from the Goddess. She has sent her blessing to you. Though you may not know it yet, I am your dream, your desire, and more importantly, your destiny." She stared at him wondering just what point he was trying to make with her, then turned to go. That night as she was getting ready for bed she could not get the words of the stranger from her mind. She felt that tingling in her body as she had felt it at the touch of his hand on hers. She took her time, brushing her hair and preparing in hopes that her husband would fall asleep. She had no interest in meeting any of his demands this evening. She knew in her heart that only the stranger could satisfy her needs on this night. Strange, this effect meeting him had on her. Over the next several days it seemed that her mind was always on the stranger. Perhaps this was because everywhere she went she would see him. Or was that just her imagination, wishful thinking. She was amused and at the same time bewildered by the power this stranger had over her. But she was also glad for the relief from the blandness of her days before the party where they met. One evening, she decided to go for a drive. It was her husband's night to go out with the "boys" and she was alone and lonely. So she drove out of town and over to the small lake where she had been on so many of those picnics. She climbed from her car and walked along the shore of the lake. She heard a splash, a stone being thrown into the water. Most times this would have brought on her fear but for some strange reason, she knew that it to be him. Perhaps her wishing him there had made it so. She saw his long curled hair shining in the moonlight. He turned and smiled at her, then he walked over to where she was standing. In spite of her calm, she was trembling. Without speaking a word he took her into his arms and kissed her. I was a long deep, sensuous kiss, his tongue pushing between her slightly parted lips, finding her own. She offered no objection as his hand reached out and gently caressed her breast nor did she offer any resistance as he slowly removed her shift and underclothing. He removed his own and they stood silent, naked in the moon light, kissing and caressing one another. She had not known this feeling is such a long time. It was liquor to her and she was intoxicated with the passion she shared with the stranger. Slowly he helped her down and together they made passionate love. Never had she known the intensity of what she shared with this man. There was perfection there and she reached a level of satisfaction she didn't know was possible. Afterwards he had held her close to him for a long time, stroking her hair with his hands and caressing her. She felt so safe and warm in his embrace, and she knew she wanted more, to share more time with this stranger and to make love with this man once again. She knew deep inside that he was the only one who could ever satisfy her desires completely. She turned to go as it was getting late. But before leaving she knew she must ask why he had come into her life in the strange way that he did. So she said to him, "Please tell me who you are and why you have become a part of my life? I really am not the kind of person to be so accepting of strangers." He replied to her, "M'lady, I am not a stranger. We have loved before, in another time, in another realm. And we shall be together again. We are the star-crossed lovers, destined to walk through eternity together. And it is now that the Goddess has chosen as the time of our reunion. I have come to claim you as mine and to pledge to be yours for all time. It is our destiny and nothing can change what will be. I am the lover you have known and will know until time ends. We have always loved one another and this is still true. So now you know, and now is the time to come dance through time with me. I await thee."
