CAMP SIGNUPS | Hmm, well yesterday was Wednesday, August 1, and the Camp Hyrule 2001 Signups should have went underway. But, due to server overload, the Camp Hyrule 2001 signups were postponed to today, August 2. Well, this was my last week at work, and I couldn't sign up. Luckily, my good pal Hakuden signed me up! I wanna give him a big thank you for that one. But this year, they didn't seem to allow any numbers mixed in with letters in the middle of your screename. All numbers had to be at the end of your screename, so my name ended up being FIBEROPTIX (yes, a much simplified form of my glorious name). But anyways, the Bus Ride is in a few days, and I hope to see everyone there! |
BUS RIDE | Ah yes, finally, the Camp Hyrule 2001 Bus Ride has arrived! This is the place where I triumphed last year at CH2K ^_^ This year's Bus Ride almost didn't happen because of apparent server problems. (Come on NOA, what's up with all the problems?) Well, about 30 minutes later, we were all able to hitch a ride on the Bus Ride to Camp Hyrule 2001! The prize for answering the most trivia questions this year? Well, NOA decided to give away Advance Wars for GameBoy Advance. Personally, I thought they could have given away a better game, say Mario Kart Super Circuit? =P They really surprised me, because we all thought they were giving away the Nintendo GameCube. Man, that Bus just filled itself within a matter of minutes when we came in! I think there were around 300 or so people in one tiny chat room, so it was kinda hectic, if you know what I mean. I didn't really like how they did the Bus Ride Trivia this year. NOAMike asked questions that didn't even relate to games at all. Some questions were kinda bogus. They should have just let NOATravis do it, as he has more experience. Well, I managed to snag the right answer on only one of the trivia questions. Here's a short transcript of me doing so! It was pretty cool to see my other buds Hakuden and Yoshi3gg get some questions right as well! In the end, there were a lot more people who got questions right than last year, so my chances, and everyone else's chances didn't look too good. Well, it was kind of a "different" Bus Ride this year, but it was kinda fun if you shake of the light headed-ness from your brain afterwards. Camp starts in a few days!!! |
DAY ONE |
Ah yes, the first day of Camp Hyrule 2001! This year, I was assigned to Cabin 2, with NOAAimless and NOAShyGuy being our cabin counselors. Well, get this, our official cabin chat time was 6:00AM to 7:00AM PDT (yes folks, THAT early in the morning), and I actually woke up at 6AM this morning to get into camp and meet my counselors at cabin chat. Well, I woke up early and got online, and to my horror, the camp's site didn't even let me in! Talk about a buggy year for camp! Here's what I saw, the Camp Hyrule 2001 Map when I first logged on! Well anyways, I got to talk to only NOAAimless, and we chose a name and a mascot for our cabin. This year in Cabin 2, we're the Camp Hyrule Hooligans, and our mascot is the Shy Guy, representing our counselor NOAShyGuy. Well, it was an early morning, and there were several activities to do, like the Luigi's Mansion art, Ask Dan questions, and do a flag for our cabin! Well, of course I did all of those things, but my Luigi pic didn't turn out too well. Oh well, I lead my cabin to a high rank, and that's good. Everyone in Cabin 2 has good spirits about winning. My flag eventually ended up being picked for use in our cabin! Check it out! Cabin 2's Official Flag! Well, that's enough to call it a day! I'm kinda tired after the first day of camp, so I'll see all of you at DAY TWO ^_^ |
DAY TWO |
Ah yes, DAY TWO of Camp Hyrule 2001! Unfortunately, this was rather a dull day, needless to say. There were NO Trading Post activities at all to make points >_< That totally sucked as the whole Cabin was ready to start working for points. Even our counselors didn't even show up for Cabin Chat! So I guess we were kinda left out in the open, with no guidance, well except for me! ^_^ I actually had to ask NOATaylor for some help because NOAAimless and NOAShyGuy didn't show up for us. Well, I got my buddy Hakuden in Cabin 4 to e-mail me their stuff from their responsible counselor. I put together a quick and simple interior for the 15 points! Check out Cabin 2's Interior right here! Oh yeah, I went to today's Guest Host chat in the Stadium, and checked out the event. The Nintendo Power writing staff was there from 2:00PM to 3:00PM PDT for a little Q&A session. There was a lot of people there, and quite a few were acting obnoxious because their questions weren't being answered. Well, I was lucky to get one of my questions asked by NOAIndiana! Check out Indy presenting my question to the NP NOA's! You can check out a short transcript of it here as well! What was cool was that my buds Hakuden and Yoshi3gg got their questions asked as well! (Hey, didn't I see something like this happen on the Bus Ride?) All in all, it was an okay experience. Now that this day's over, we move onto DAY THREE of Camp Hyrule 2001! |
DAY THREE | The third day of Camp Hyrule 2001 begins! Hmm, well let's see... there were only two activities to do today in the Trading Post. We had to write poetry relating to Camp Hyrule (I'm not a "poetic" person, really), and you got a point for your submission. Blah, I dunno if they really took it anyways, I just made it up on the go. The second activity was the face painting of this picture of NOARushmore, NOAMrDisco, and NOATravis. Now that, I actually have, so check out my Face Painting! At this point in time, I don't know if they posted it up on their site, but if it does get posted, I'll update! ^_^ Hmm, as for the Guest Chat today, it was the producer guy for Madden NFL 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube. Not very interesting in my opinion, and I didn't go to it. Ah well! Tomorrow's Guest Chat isn't all that exciting either, the Project Leader for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for N64 (People are still making games for the 'ol N64 eh?) Ah well, another day of camp has ended, and we wait for the 4th day of Camp Hyrule 2001! Hopefully they'll post some stuff! Geez, where are those Ask Dan questions? |
DAY FOUR | The fourth day of Camp Hyrule 2001 begins! Ah man, it's kinda sad that it's almost over, since I actually liked being around for it, hehe. Well, they finally got an activity in today in the Trading Post. You were supposed to make some art for Super Smash Bros. Melee, and it was worth two points a piece. I didn't get a chance at doing that because I was kinda occupied. Us being the winning cabin looks slimmer and slimmer. The high scoring cabin is Cabin 9 this year, and they're ahead of us by like 100 something points! Man, we can't catch up with that. Well, I've been visiting my friend Hakuden's cabin, and NOAJen and NOAChris were there from Nintendo Power! It was amazing that they stayed in there for so long! Anyone who was there got their questions answered. I don't know how long I stayed in there, but chatting in that cabin was great. It probably was the best day of camp this year, well so far ^_^ Oh yeah, since tomorrow is the End of Camp Awards, I went around parading and campaigning myself for the "A Rose by Any Other Name - Overall" Award. This award is given out to the person with the best screename, which is ME! Well, I hope a lot of people voted for me! The last day of camp is tomorrow! NOOOO!!! We'll find out tomorrow at the End of Camp Awards, which takes place at 4:00PM PDT in the Amplitheater! See everyone there! |
DAY FIVE | Ah man, the last day of Camp Hyrule 2001! Well, it's sad to say that today's the last day of camp. Today, there were no activities sadly, but at least most of our cabin showed up today! Yeah, I woke up at 6AM again to be in the final cabin chat of the week with our counselor(s). It appears NOAShyGuy never showed up in our cabin, but I saw him at the Bonfire. At least we got to hang with NOAAimless for awhile. It was kinda sad to see her go, but oh well. The last day was sad, but we all finally had time to talk and have fun, instead of trying to frantically gain points. Well, we knew it was over for us when the leading cabin had like 150 more points than us. Yeah, we tried, but we kinda got sidetracked, needless to say. The End of Camp Awards were delayed, because a certain NOATravis was supposedly late. D'oh! Well, the Stadium didn't seem to work, so they just shouted it out to everyone. Man, trust me, it took awhile for them to do it. It actually was better than the Stadium, because there was no scrolling by stupid lamers. Ah well, the people in my cabin were getting restless from it taking so long. Well I myself didn't like how they did it. I mean, you don't need all that crap, it just takes more time. Just do it, and get it over with, oh well. What sucked about today was that my stupid iChat kept getting an Illegal Error or some crap. Like every few minuntes, it would just crash, both Netscape AND Internet Explorer. I had to log in MULTIPLE times, and it was not fun. I wanted to see who won the awards. But, I managed to snag a somewhat complete transcript of the event, which I will post later when I have time. Man, after camp awards were over, I had to go eat dinner, and when I came back, guess what, another crash! Piece of crap works later, but not then! I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to my other cabin members. It seemed as if everyone suddenly disappeared, but as the night got later, some people, not a lot, showed back up in 'ol Cabin 2 to idle. Man, at least I was with my good friends there. We idled the night away in my cabin, as time was supposedly expiring in camp. But, what people didn't know was that they extended camp much later into the night! The population was around 50 campers, and NOATravis and NOATaylor were left, all of us creeping in the Swamp. Travis summoned most of us there, as we had our last chat. Camp Hyrule 2001 was pretty fun, but not as cool as 2000. Thanks to the people at CH2K1 for making the week fun. Thanks to all my cabin members for the memories! Until next year! |
