My journal entries only begin to describe my journey in Kenya, words and photos can not capture the true experience...

9:00pm     Today was full of adventures.  We don’t work on the weekends!  Get up at 7am eat bread, peanut butter, eggs, and tea.  Justus and Musa took Maria and I to these caves out past the town.  I guess people used to come to them for all sorts of religious purposes; fasting, or bring their baby after he’s been circumcised.  From the lookout on top you can see Uganda and Tanzania out over Lake Victoria, a breath-taking site.  A tale from Justus is that the Lake used to be a few feet deep and that is how people came from Uganda to Kenya, then it rained for a long time and filled the Lake.

After lunch the boys, Justus, Musa, and Odoyo, took me to watch Luo love song music videos.  I wait outside a small brick room and Odoyo motions for me to come in.  I enter a dark room full of young men, I think there may have been one lady.  2 small televisions are in the front of the room and we make our way to the back.  Everyone stares, wondering what the muzungu is doing here, but they soon forget as a new songs plays.  One TV has Luo music videos, young women dancing (fully clothed, beautiful, big women – so much different than MTV), but the camera only shows from the women’s neck to her knees while she’s dancing.  The other TV is playing a Jet Li flick with no sound.

Before bed I sit outside with the guys again and get to know them better each time.  They ask about my marital status because he has been telling guys that approach him wanting to talk to me that I am engaged so they won’t bother me.
