Anna's Trip to Thailand
Details of my year long trip teaching Biology at Global English School
Outreach and Church

On Saturday afternoon our group went out into the streets of Thailand and ministered to the Thai children. We sang and taught them some English phrases and gave them candy. Each group had person who spoke Thai and they gave a short Bible lesson to the kids. It was a great experience. Many of these people live in such deep poverty in such filthy condtions, yet the children all seemed so happy. It really caused me to feel blessed about what God has provided me with.

Then this morning, Sunday the 15th, we went and helped with the Thai chidrens Sunday school. It was a lot of fun to help the children and try and interact with them. Again we tried to teach them some English and then we all sang songs with fun motions. After this, we attended the Thai/Korean adult church service. This was amazing! We were able to worship the Lord in three languages, Thai, Korean and English. Then I sang a duet with one of my team members, Cassandra for the offeratory. A majority of the congregation could not understand us but I think they enjoyed it. We will continue this pattern of outreach on Saturdays and church on Sundays with a midweek worship service on Wednesday for the remainder of our stay. Please pray that our outreach would allow these precious Thai kids to see the love of God and come to know him as there Lord and Savior.

The weather here is still very hot and humid. This is the rainy season so we get some rain almost every day but not a whole lot (at least for now). Yesterday it rained for about 30 min and today it only showered for a few minutes. It's really not too bad. Also we get a lot of cloud cover so we are hardly ever in direct sunlight which is good for my fair skin although I was hoping to get a little sun=)

The children are coming tomorrow night and then we will start to get to know them and teach them some English. We are still preparing our classrooms and lesson plans for their arrival. Pray for their saftey and our sanity=)

It sounds like you are having a wonderful and productive time so far. I pray that you will enjoy the culture throughout your whole trip and do not have bad culture shock as you get into your stay there. I will also be praying for the kids you will be ministering to and teaching. I'm already anxious for you to get back and hear stories with pictures face-to-face. Blessings!!

Anna,
It's almost midnight Monday the 16th. Bethany and I just got through roaming the very dark neighborhood (no street lights) looking for our dog. Do the Thai people have pets?
Was wondering what age children you are teaching. Are they well behaved? When you go out into the streets do the children come up to you alone or do their parent's come with them?
We are praying for you and the Thai children. Be safe and happy! Blessings!
