Knitting, Spinning and Other Stuff
Entry for November 06, 2006

Oh my, my friend's birthday was this last Sunday, and I thought I had another week.  So I put my sweater coat on hold (I have the back finished, getting ready to start the left front) and finished spinning & plying another skein (above).  Hopefully this will give me enough yarn to finish her scarf.  This will be my first roving to finished item project.  The yarn is a worsted weight.  I am going to try to spin some sport weight for another capelett after I finish my sweater coat.

Very nice! I've just looked at your spinning pictures. I've always wanted to learn how to use a spinning wheel. I've done some (very rough) spinning with a drop spindle, but hope to someday use a wheel.

That whole "from scratch" aspect is nice.

It's really not hard, just takes a lot of practice. I'm still learning to ply the yarn that I've spun :P. I was lucky, I got my wheel from my sister when she moved from TX to FL and had to down size and that was one of the things she decided to let go. I'm forever grateful to her :}.
