Knitting, Spinning and Other Stuff
Entry for November 14, 2006

Well, I was going to work on my sweater coat honest, but this Yak down kept calling my name and saying it wanted to be spun.  So of course I had to. :)   I've discovered that short fibers are harder to spin :P.  I started this on Sunday because it's peaceful to spin and normally I can ponder other things while I spin, but this stuff took all my concentration.  You can see it is fluffy like a cloud, it is loose carded and the fibers are very short, but it is very very soft.  I did some spinning on it for about an hr last night and it's a little easier now.  Still takes a lot of my concentration tho, other wise I keep getting close and closer to the spinning oriface or the fiber breaks, which was the problem on Sunday.  I had to loosen my tension as well so it wouldnt take it in as fast.  Anyway, this is the Yak I got from ebay some months back.  I'll get back to my sweater coat soon, cos it is getting cold outside :P.

Looks lovely. Wish my computer monitor had "Feel-o-Vision"! I bet it's as soft as you say.

oh yes, it is soft, like holding a cloud in your hand :} (if you are interested in spinning some let me know and I will let you know where I got it), I hope my spinning does it justice. Feel-o-vision would be nice - we need to get someone to work on that, like the children's books that you can feel. hehe

That is really nice. It will be a while before I am able to spin short fibres. I've only been spindle spinning for about a week and a half. Now I want a wheel. I am hoping by the spring I'll be able to get one.
