The main gear retract system was primarily designed to
be a retorfit for the Long EZ. There are a few special features to this system that set it
apart from other available products. First of all, the original fixed gear - gear
extrusions are used for mounting the new gear legs at the same location in the fuselage.
Secondly, the weight gain for the components is only 15 pounds over the weight of
the fixed gear. In addition, the entire system fits behind and under the back seat
resulting in a small loss of room in the back seat area. Lastly, the entire system
uses 5.00 X 5 tires and sacrifices only five gallons per side fuel loss. |
