| November 1st: Walleye Central Bragging Rights Tourney. What a great weather dauy it was and lots of people did really great! We however struggled all day long and managed (just) to get a tourney limit of 4 fish for 26+ pounds with the biggest at 10.6 pounds according to Scott's scale (I thought it was bigger a 30.5 inches but my scale battery had gone dead on me)). We got everything on reefrunners except the big one and that came right away on lead core and a Mooneye Ripshad. 60 trips November 2nd: Chris and I went out in the afternoon on sunday after sleeping in and being lazy all morning. We didn't get anything going until Joe whitten and Freebyrd/Stedke gave us some numbers where they were lighting them up. We started catching immediately when we got there and the action lasted until after dark. Our biggest was about 11 pounds and chris whooped me big time with mono and an Eriedescent Reefrunner. We night fished for awhile in close and got a few more in there on Chris's Eriedescent again. she was hard to live with after this day! 61 trips. November 4th: We went out of Cranberry for the night bite again fishing til almost 11PM but the fish didn't cooperate for anybody. We (she) managed 1 6 pounder and that was it. Guess what color again? Yep eriedescent (Ripstick this time). 62 trips November8th: Chris and I nite fished the Vermilion area. We wound up with 2 fish just as most others did during a slow bite. We got ours east of the castle. 63 trips November 10th: I fished alone west of Cranberry for 5 hours with little action. 2 in the boat and a couple misses. Nothing happened in shallow water. At midnite the wind kicked in and it got rough out and I was in 30 FOW just NE of Huron. Started trolling with the main engine for boat control and the fish lit up big time.. I'm guesssing that I got at least 20 fish in the next 2 1/2 hours and probably more. Ripstick took the majority but a Deep Lil ripper stayed busy too. All at 45-85 feet back and 2-3 MPH. Great night after they fired up! 64 trips November 15th: Chis and I fished the Cranberry area east to Vermilion and picked up 3 night fish. Biggest at about 8 pounds. It was slow picking and all of them came on ripsticks at 80 back in 18' of water. We tried deeper and shallower with nothing to show for it. There were so many fish that I could feel the lure and line bumping off them when holding the rod with no board on it. 65 trips November 16th: Chris and I went with Matt Davis on his new Ranger 621. (Sweet boat) We fished the 31 line north of Vermilion basically because we didn't hear anything going on in close. We managed 3 small fish and all came on Eriedescent Ripshads (Chris's pick) 80 back. Tried the night bite for a while with no luck and quit early due to heavy fog and that uncomfortable feeling of hearing voices but not seeing anything! 66 trips November 20th: Fished the night bite with Brian Thomas off Huron for a couple hours with no luck in 30-35 FOW. We moved into the 7- 18 foot range and managed 2 fish at the 17' depth. One came on the Blue glass HJ minnow and the other (Brians biggest to date 10 pound 14 ounce) on a Blue silver HJ. 67 trips November 22nd: Chris and I went out of Huron at dusk and fished the deeper water off 61. I don't know how it happened but I managed 9 fish while Chris got a big Goose Egg and threatened over and over again to throw me overboard. Almost all the fish came on a Blue/Silver HJ 14, 150-220 back flatlining. The board rods just wouldn't go. Pumping seemed to have no effect and the biggest was about 6 1/2 pounds with most in the 3-5 pound range. We caught fish fairly steady til midnite when they turned off for us but didn't quit til almost 3 AM. 68 trips. November 26th: Fished with Nite Ranger (Kent) and his dog on his warm toasty boat.We managed 8 fish on a slow bite but did have 1 triple that we turned around on and never managed another fish after 3 passes. We got fish on every lure and each lure was back a different length. The biggest may have gon about 7 pounds. 69 trips |
