In sullen silence
Side by side
But never touching
Nor speaking
Not even looking at each other

What rift lies so deep
That they are silent
Why do they stare
At their feet
What caused the hatred
That is driving them apart?

What will they become
These two girls
Who do not speak
Will their unspoken friendship
Ever be replaced
Or will they just give up?
