Did She Know?
The homework she
didn’t bother to do
Did she know she
wouldn’t be there to hand it in?
The book on the
shelf, a bookmark in the middle
Did she care that
she’d never finish it?
Weekend pans she
made with friends
Did she know she
wouldn’t get there?
The half hearted
wave as her friend went home
Did either of them
think it was a final goodbye?
When she woke up
that morning, threw the covers on the floor
Did she know that
it didn’t matter is she picked them up or not?
Did she know she
wouldn’t ever wake up again?
Was she glad about
it? Or just relieved?
As she swallowed
the pills
Did she wonder is
she was making a mistake?
Or was she so
desperate for the pain to be over
That she just
didn’t care any more?
