| CAREER GOALS: My short-term goal (6mo - 1 year) upon seperation from the United States Navy is to be employed as an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist/ Inspector/ Safety Technician/ Compliance Officer with the federal government at Naval Station Jacksonville, Florida, within the city of Jacksonville, Florida or Orlando Florida, anywhere in Spain - or - in the commercial industries under the wing of experienced supervision at the locations I have indicated above. My long-term goal (5-10 years) is to obtain my Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health, obtain Certified Safety Specialist (CSP) certification, then become a Manager for a Naval Facility or commercial industry. PROFESSIONAL PROFILE: I have been a manager, maintenance administrator and aircraft electrical/ instrument systems repair/ maintenance technician for more than 15 years. I have developed many specialized skills while serving under the organizational and intermediate level maintenance activities. These skills have been found to match up with many DoD,DoE, and DoL job descrition requirements, allowing you to better evaluate me and my variable skills, matching them to your company or organizational needs. Currently, I perform the management, administration, or operation of the safety and occupational health program and perform the administrative work concerned with safety and occupational health activities that include the development, implementation, and evaluation of related program functions for one of the largest Aviation squadrons in the Navy. The primary objective of my work is the elimination or minimization of human injury and property and productivity losses, caused by harmful contact incidents, through the design of effective management policies, programs, or practices. I have managed 43 Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) and other associated programs for over 500 personnel managing a budget in excess of 3 million dollars since July 26, 2000. I have attended a variety of safety training courses and am qualified as a Naval Safety Technician, Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) 9571. For a more detailed listing of my work and educational history, please refer to my historical profile page. PERSONAL PROFILE: I was born and raised in a small town outside of Birmingham, Alabama called Tarrant. I have served my country for over 21 years in the United States Navy and will transfer to the Fleet Reserve and civilian life effective 30 September 2003. After living in Europe for over 15 years I feel I have developed certain personality traits that allow me to be a more open-minded person that easily adapts to varying circumstances. There are a number of negative and positive traits that have either developed over the years or have hung on to me from the beginning. I am what they classify as a type "B" person in that I often work harder and longer than I should, not allowing enough time to enjoy life and what it has to offer. I do not manage large groups of young adults well as I tend to get caught up in ensuring the administrative portion of my job is on target. I perform well providing direction to people of the same age or peer groups who are mature enough that they do not require a lot of supervision. I also tend to be a bit naive concerning issues or people that I am unfamiliar with. I expect people to be straightforward and honest. On the positive side, I am very serious, yet friendly, loyal and dedicated to the cause of my work, whatever it may be. I am also known for being young at heart and bonding easily with small children and in meeting new people. I am never too embarrassed to ask for guidance or assistance in the effort to achieve maximum results and continual improvement. In return I hold a great deal of gratitude and indebtedness to those who have helped me and try to repay this friendship whenever able. I currently own a home in Jacksonville, Florida where I will be seeking employment in the occupational field and locations mentioned in my career goals listed above. I am open to any other job opportunities that will make best use of my knowledge, skills, abilities and desired pay. My Interests are in gardening, woodworking, classic automobiles and computing. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND INTEREST IN A VETERAN! |
