Santa Barbara and Catalina Island October, 2007

We drove to Santa Monica, then took a helicopter to Catalina Island.  There we hiked and kayaked and rented bikes.  Very relaxing and enjoyable.  Then we went back to Santa Barbara.  There was a huge fire storm in the southern counties, so we decided to change plans, and head north.  We visited Santa Barbara and Morro Bay, then headed home.

War memorial on Santa Monica beach, one white cross for each American killed in Iraq war.  The red crosses represent 10 soldiers… since they were running out of room on the beach.

Gene on the helicopter to Catalina. (His first time in a helicopter!)
