A Trip

Summary

(continued)

What a treat Arenal Lodge, Park and Volcano were to visit.

The Observatory grounds were beautiful, and there were hiking trails, great views of the volcano.

At night you could eat at local open air restaurants, and watch the red lava flow down.

It was quite spectacular.

After a hike along the waterfall trail at Arenal Observatory, we came out to huge exploding sound and we saw this daytime eruption!

Three shots from our room as Arenal ‘belched’.

Other activities to do around this beautiful area, were the famous canopy tours… which we did!  The day starts off with a horse back ride through some pretty deep mud, up part of a mountain.

Then a short hike up to the ‘zip’ lines…climb up in a tree on ladders.

Some quick instruction and they clip you to the line…   Ziiiip!

Seven zip lines to get back down to the horses. It was fun!

In comes Kathy

In comes Dave!

The four of us and a guide went down a calm river on a raft… watching for wild life..

We all got  up a little earlier to do a morning bird walk… and boy did we see birds and monkeys…

Two kinds of toucans, 2 kinds of monkeys, 3 kinds of turkeys and lot’s of other birds… we had a great guide with a great scope.  He could call to the monkeys and they would call back, ditto for the birds… he was a true nature lover.

These pictures were all taken through his scope just using our digital camera!
