My Walking Life

Walking is my quiet time for thinking, for exercise, for meditation, for breathing fresh air. The best part is that piece of wisdom about taking one's time and enjoying life - I can always stop and smell the roses.

Walking is easy:

  • Any place is fun - from the busy and noisy sidewalks of New York City to Philippine beaches where the summer breeze whispers through coconut trees.
  • Walking is cheap. Doing it barefoot with no special equipment is okay.
  • Speed is not an issue. Zip along at marathon-pace or meander along winding streets, stopping once in a while to look into shop windows.
  • Distance does not matter. Walk down the street and back or set off for the horizon and walk across the country.
  • Alone or with everyone. It's OK! Walking can be done in sweet solitude, with a loved one, or with everyone in a walkathon for a good cause.
  • Any time is the best time. Go for an early morning ramble with the dog, dash out from work to the grocery at lunchtime, take a stroll under the moonlight.
