Frequently Asked Questions |
||
| Q: | What is the purpose of this program? | |
| A: | This program is meant for people who do data-entry into a form that would be found on the Internet or that exists in the office. If you are bored with manually cutting and pasting data and are looking for an easy to use program that will do this for you, then this is the program for you. | |
| Q: | How is this program used? | |
| A: | This program is based on Excel and is used in order to copy and paste information from an Excel spreadsheet to another application. There are also several new script commands that would allow a user to copy from a web form and paste the information into the Excel sheet. The information on the web form could be found using a script search command. | |
| Q: | What applications could this program be used with? | |
| A: | These
applications typically involve the cutting and pasting of data from an
Excel worksheet to a web page or a database form. Other operations that mimic any keystroke that can be made by your keyboard such as tabbing to a button on the form, checking a checkbox, doing a search for some text on the web form, etc. |
|
| Q: | Can this program be used to enter data into Access? | |
| A: | If you are entering data from Excel into an Access Database, and if you are the developer, then it is much easier to use the "import" feature of Access instead of copying and pasting data from Excel. | |
| Q: | So why do I need this program then? | |
| A: | Because
people who do a lot of data-entry and who are not developers or Data Base
Administrators have no idea of the effects of importing data from
Excel into their applications tables or how the tables are inter-related.
With Oracle form data entry, for example, multiple tables could be updated when the user saves the data from a single form to the database. It is safer in most cases to enter data directly into a form. |
|
| Q: | Has this program been tested in a "real-world" application. | |
| A: | Yes, the programs author has been using this program for several years now. | |
| Q: | Why was this program developed? | |
| A: | This
program was developed to avoid doing repetitive data-entry
(it's pretty boring). The author is a Microsoft Certified Solutions
Developer specializing in Visual Basic. He decided to develop a program using
Excel Visual Basic to ease the burden of maintaining an Oracle database
for a large corporation.
Realizing that there is a need for this program, the author tailored it to be as easy to use as possible for a typical data-entry person who is trying to automate their process. |
|
| Q: | Is this program easy for the average person to use? | |
| A: | This
program uses the standard Windows based controls that everyone who uses
Microsoft products is familiar with. Even non-technical people can
be up and running in no-time. It also has many script commands that
work well with web forms. In addition, any syntax errors in the script will be highlighted and the user will have to fix them before writing out the script. |
