Sometimes

     Ow, that hurt thought Van as he got up again, a bit more carefully this
time to assist Hitomi up as well. They stared at each other for a little
while, wondering what to say, when Hitomi gathered up her courage and hugged
Van closely, whispering how much she missed and loved him. Van's arms came
around Hitomi and pulled her close to him, as if he would never let go.

     " . . .and that's when I was lifted from the ground and landed in the
alley,"said Hitomi as she finished her explanation of how she got to
Gaea."Perhaps when we wished to be together again we somehow triggered the
light beam,"Van suggested. "Then why didn't it work before?",Hitomi wanted
to know. He sighed."I don't know. We'll just have to keep a lookout for
anything unusual."
     
     "Lord Van!",shouted a voice,"Lord Van where are you?" Hitomi smiled," I
think I know who that could be." A small furred body crashed into Van at
that moment,"Lord Van there you are!"Merle exclaimed."I've been looking all
over! The samari said you ran off after a bright light and . . ."
                                                                    
     That was when Merle got a good look at Van's company. And Hitomi got
hugged as well"Hitomi I'm so glad you're back, if you could visit why didn't
you come earlier?" "I couldn't until today for some reason.""Well it's good
you're back."
  
     Van regretfully interrupted,"I'm afraid I have to go back to working
for the festival now. Why don't you two go look around and I'll join you
soon." Merle piped up again and said,"The samari are probably done by now.
The festival starts tomorrow anyway. You need a day off once in a while."
 
     Hitomi agreed,"Please come Van. If what you told me about rebuilding
Fanalia is true, then you do need a day off." Van surrenderedand the three
went to look at the preparations for the festival tomorrow and wander around
while talking about what was going on, what had been going on, and
everything in between. Finally Merle went ahead because Van and Hitomi were
walking way too slow, and besides there was that vendor who always had
catnip with him. Van and Hitomi stopped to look at some items that were
apparently from Earth, and by the time they looked up, Merle was gone.

     Van was frustrated. They had looked all over and they still could not
find Merle."Van,maybe she went back to the castle",Hitomi suggested. "Maybe,
but it's not like her to run off and not come back, sooner or later."Just
then a samari came up,"Williamson, have you seen Merle?" The samari
considered it a moment,"I think I saw her headed toward the castle a little
while ago. I'll look into it, and tell you when I find her. In the meantime
you and your lady friend,"and hear he winked at Hitomi who desperatly tried
to cover her blushing cheeks,"go and have fun. If we see you before twilight
we'll toss you in the nearest fountain, begging your pardon sir."
    
     Van hid a smile behind his hand and said," As I have no intention of
being dropped in the nearest fountain, I belive Lady Hitomi and I will take
youroffer.Thank you for suggesting it, Williamson." "It was nothing sir."
"Besides",Williamson muttered under his breath as the couple walked off,"you
definatly need a day to yourself and your friend. I've got a bet going on
how fast you fall for this Lady Hitomi.
     
 There you have it! I know the dark figure didn't show
up this chapter, so she'll show up a lot in the
next.:winks: This ought to be amusing. And no I'm not going to have a lot of
romance for Hitomi and Van. just oulines of what they did. The really wicked
stuff comes with Merle arrival.
