Hi! I'm tenshi-chan. I just got a urge to write this story for escaflowne
while my Mom was washing my hair in the sink. Weird huh? But this is my
first time writing escaflowne fanfiction and I'm real nervous, so be nice.
Please read and tell me if I should continue.

Sometimes
by Tenshi-chan

Van looked up at the Mystic Moon and sighed. He missed her so much. It had
been about a year since she went back to her own home, and he sunk deeper
and deeper into depression every day. Merle often tried to cheer him up but
it never worked. At least Fanalia was better,he thought sadly.

Fanalia was better, better infact than it had ever been before. Van had
thrown himself into its rebuilding and his work was paying off. Hitomi would
be so surprised at what he had done, he thought with a touch of pride at his
work and of saddness at the thought she never would.

He'd dreamed about showing her around Fanalia again, of telling how
everything fitted together, and how much everything had changed so much
while she'd been away, and how much he loved her and missed her . . .

She probly has someone else by now he thought with a twinge of jealosy. One
that doesn't live in a whole different world. He sighed again and wonedered
like he did every night . . . "What is Hitomi doing now?"
**********************************************************************
Actually Hitomi was doing absolutly nothing at the moment. And that was what
had Yukari worried. Ever since that day a year ago Hitomi had gradually
withdrawn more and more into herself. She still had resonable grades and ran
on the track team, but it seemed, to Yukari at least, that something was
missing.

She had always tried to find out what it was many times, but when she
questioned Hitomi, all she got was a half smile and the murmered "Maybe
someday" She had long since given up on that issue. these days she tried to
just be there for Hitomi, silently offering a shoulder to cry on, should she
ever need it.

And all in all she had been very helpful Hitomi reflected. She missed Van
with a passion, and always hoped she'd see him again someday, even though
she knew it was close to impossible. Often she would dream of meeting him
again, sometimes on Earth and sometimes on Gaia.
Whenever she did, the first thing she always said was the those three words
they had neglected to say before.

Oh well. Enough reflecting. It was going to be time for track soon, and she
wanted to strech. Of course she always tought of Van while she ran. It
somehow seemed to make her go faster. She sat up and started pulling her long
hair into a braid. It was growing fast and she had decided that she would
keep it that way. It looked great, as Yukari always told her, even if it was
a pain in the but to keep up with. At thigh lenght and still coming, she
still had to wash it every single night, at her mother's insistance.Back to
work . . .again Hitomi thought, as she started her grueling workout.

A shadowy figure looked into the mirror and frowned. They still haven't
figured it out she thought to herself. Then the light bulb went on in her
head and she smiled slowly. What a brilliant idea. I am such a genious! All
they need is a push in the right direction. "And I know just how to do that.
Watch out Fanel and Kansake. You're about to rediscover your soul."

A man ,supposedly in his early forties, late thirties, came int eh door
suddenly, disturbing Van's thinking. Van frowned and stood up.
"What is it Wiliamson?"
"Your majasty, there has been some talk among the people wondering if we
were going to celebrate the end of the war as the anniversery of the signing
of the peace treaty if coming up. In Palas there is talk of fireworks, in
the Duchy of Freid the will be a great ball."
"Your right we should do something. But what? We only have a short time to
prepare . . ."
"Well the other samari and I don't know how it started, but there came the
rumor that we were planning a festival. People from all of Fanalia are
coming in already. Even if we called it off there would be quite a lot of
dissapointment . . ."
Van smiled,"Well it looks like someone took the matter right out of our
hands. But I like the idea. A festival it is. . ."
**********************************************************************
"And what a festival it will be ",the dark figure chuckled."You will never
forget this festival for the rest of your lives."

that's it! I hope you liked it. Please tell me what you think. If I don't at
least 3 good reviews,I'm not writing anymore. So please R&R!
