Disclaimers: I don't own Escaflowne it belongs to all the companys that own it (duh if I owned Escaflowne you wouldn't be reading this fic beacuse I would be trying to get the subbed episodes on American TV and I wouldn't need this disclaimer) Don't sue I'm just a middle school student the most you'll get is my computer and it's my computer ya hear mine!

Oh one more thing anything in italics indicates thought I haven't seen all of Escaflowne so bear with me but I've read alot of episode sypnosises.

Chapter Four: Suprises

One more thing I am taking a short writing break if I can keep myself away from the computer. I feel that what little quaility my work has well has been slipping so I plan to take this break to gather my thoughts.

When Hitomi woke up the next morning she smiled when she saw the pastel yellow dress Van had left her. Hitomi noticed a small slip of paper on the table, Dear Hitomi, I left a dress for you and Yukari meet me outside your room when your done. Smiling at the gesture Hitomi dressed and walked out of the room to be greeted by Van, Yukari and Merle.

"So have you told them yet?" asked Hitomi

"No I was waiting for you" replied a smiling Van

"Told us what" inquired both Merle and Yukari

Van and Hitomi merely smiled at each other seeing the look on Yukari and Merle's faces. Van wrapped his arm around Hitomi's waist as he began to tell Yukari and Merle the news.

"Hitomi and I are engaged" said Van proudly

"YOU'RE WHAT!!!!!!" exclaimed both Yukari and Merle simutaniously

"Engaged" replied Hitomi

Breaking the silence Yukari joyfully ran up to Hitomi and Van and began to talk to them excitedly about a wedding. Merle just stood in the shadows and watched Yukari, Hitomi and Van talk. Merle knew this day would come and that Van and Hitomi were perfect for each other and Van only loved her as a sister. I shouldn't be making a fuss nor should I be jelous Hitomi and Van have loved each other since the day they met I should be happy for them. Merle told herself. Sighing one last time Merle walked off leaving Yukari, Van and Hitomi to talk.

"Where's Merle?" asked Van when there was a break in the conversation. Hitomi looked around the room ans tried to spot the missing cat woman

"I don't know I can't see her anywhere. Do you think she is upset about the engagement you know that she loves you Van." said Hitomi

"I will go and talk to her, I'll be back soon" said Van as he unfastened his necklace

"Do you know where she is" inquired Yukari. After recovering from the intial shock of seeing a cat human Yukari and Merle had become good friends.

"I will in a minute" said Van as he looked at the pendant he held in the palm of the hand.

Van closed his eyes and made a silent wish, soon he dissapeeared in a colomn of light.

"Oh I see he used the pendant to get to Merle" said Hitomi after Van and the light coloumn disappeared from view.

"You mean you can go places by using that feather pendant?" asked Yukari

"Yes, if you make a wish to go somewhere or bring someone somewhere it will do it, that's how you got here." explained Hitomi

Hitomi and Yukari started talking about the upcoming wedding and started making some plans.

Van was deposited on the roof of the palace and saw Merle sitting on the edge staring at the Mystic moon.

"Merle are you okay" asked Van

"Yes, I knew that you and Hitomi were perfect for each other and if she came back you would probably marry her even if you didn't you still would have married someone else, it's just the shock" replied Merle in a barely audiable voice.

Van walked over to Merle and sat down beside her.

"Merle you will always be my best friend and I will always love you as a sister you know that right?" Van soon regretted saying this when he saw the pained expression on Merle's face

"Oh Van you just don't understand, I love you" said Merle as she jumped down to the roof below then to the ground and ran off.

"Merle I.." began Van as he watched her run off. Van shook his head at his failed attempt to console Merle and used the oendant to go back to Hitomi.

"Yukari I'm going to wash up real quick I'll be right back" said Hitomi as she gathered up her bathing things and left the room.

Taking the chance to look around Yukari noticed that there was a full closet of dresses Van works fast thought Yukari. Well it's only fitting he is a king and she will be a queen. Yukari mused as the feather pendant caught her attention. Yukari picked it up and looked at it. It was expertly carved and looked exactly like a real feather. Hmm I wonder if it really works, I wish Amano was here. Suddenly a familar light filled the room and an all to familar Amano appeared. Oh great now what have I done thought Yukari as she saw Amano.

"Yukari is that you?" asked Amano

"Umm hi Amano fancy seeing you here" answered Yukari nervously

"Well so this is where you went so would you care to tell me where we are?" asked Amano with a hint of a smile on his face

Yukari told Amano everything Hitomi had told her and added the part about the animal people.She was happy to see Amano they had been dating for the past four years and even went to the same college.

There was an uneasy silence as Yukari and Amano looked each other over. Wow Yukari is beautiful in that dress thought Amano.

"Yukari it's a good thing you are here because I was just looking for you, I wanted to do this somewhere more romantic but now is as good as ever." said Amano as he got down on one knee in front of Yukari holding a small velvet box.

"Yukari will you marry me?"asked Amano as he held out the engagement ring he had just bought for her.

"Yes I will Amano, I can't wait to tell Hitomi and Van." said a very happy Yukari

Hitomi walked out of the bathroom and was about to walk into the room when for some reason she heard Amano's voice. Oh dear Yukari must have wished him here by accident, or at least I hope it was an accident. Hitomi knocked on the door and was greeted by the smiling faces of Yukari and Amano.

"Hitomi you will never guess what Amano just asked me" said a beaming Yukari

"No I don't know what he asked you I'm not a mind reader" joked Hitomi

Yukari merely held out her hand to flaunt the ring Amano had just given her. Hitomi gasped when she saw the gold and silver ring around Yukari's finger.

"Well I guess we are both soon to married now" said Hitomi

As soon as Hitomi had said this Van walked into the room looking very upset. Seeing Van's expression Hitomi walked over to him and asked him about Merle. Van told her that Merle was just a little upset and was okay. Van noticed that there was a man with Yukari that resembled Allen.

"Now who is this Hitomi do we have another guest?" asked Van with a hint of humor in his voice

"Van this is Amano, he and Yukari are now also engaged" replied Hitomi as she looked at Van's suprised expression

Yukari and Amano chuckled as Van stared for a minute as he processed this information.

"Well I guess we now have two couples in the palace" Van said with a smile

"Hitomi I need you to come with me there are a few people who need to meet you" said Van breaking the silence

"Alright coming, Yukari, Amano I'll be back later. Yukari hand me my necklace please" said Hitomi

Hitomi put her necklace on and began to follow Van out of the room and into the hall. After walking a few minutes in silence Hitomi asked Van where they were going. Van merely replied it is time for the meeting and when I announce our engagement I'm sure the members of the council will want to meet you. Hitomi merely sighed and leaned against Van and planted a small kiss on his lips. Van merely smiled he knew Hitomi would understand why she needed to come, the council would most likely want to meet the future queen of Fanelia. They walked into the meeting room and were met by the confused looks of the councial members. Van merely smiled and began to speak.

"I would like to introduce to you the future queen of Fanelia Hitomi Kanzaki." said Van

The members of the councial began to throw questions at the couple standing before them. Van rasied his hand and put a halt to the barrage of questions.

"Hitomi and I would like to be wed as soon as possible and the wedding needs to be organized."said Van as he looked at the councial members shocked expressions.

"But your highness what about all the eligible princesses all over Gaea?' on councial man dared to ask

"I have made my decision, I hope you will begin to make arrangements more the wedding." said Van coldly

Sensing Van's aggravation Hitomi walked over and put her hand on his shoulder, feeling Hitomi's touch Van calmed down and held Hitomi close.

"If you'll excuse me my future queen and I have some arrangements to make" said Van as he and Hitomi left the room.

Hitomi noticed that instead of heading towards the room she was staying in Van led her to his room. When Hitomi entered she noticed that all her things had been moved into Van's room. Well it's only natural now that him and I are engaged to be living in the same room she thought as she observed the beatuful bedroom.

"This is a real nice room Van" said Hitomi as she looked around.

"I'm glad you like it, if you want to change anything just let me know now that you'll be living here too." said Van as he put his hand on Hitomi's shoulder.

"Well Hitomi we better get going, the first stop will be the royal tailor." said Van as he led Hitomi down the hall.

Hitomi sighed at the thought of having to wear a fancy dress. Van merely chuckled as they walked into the tailors office.
