" The new kid" part 16




Hi all! Thank you for all those reviews. I really appreciate it. 
*tears in eyes. Wipes them away* I didn't think that many people 
liked my story. Anyways, out by popular demand here is part 16.

   Hitomi stood, shocked at what Yukari said.' No, I don't like Van, 
I love Van!' The words kept playing over and over in Hitomi's mind. 
She hadn't expected to hear that from her best friend.

   ' Poor Yukari. I didn't know she felt that way about Van. 
Maybe....maybe I should let Yukari have Van. Yukari is my best friend 
and I don't want to loose her. If she loves Van then I shouldn't 
interfere.' Hitomi thought as she continued to walk to school.

************************************************

   " Hitomi! Hi!" an excited Van yelled. He stopped dead in his 
tracks when he saw the look on Hitomi's face.

   Once Hitomi reached Van he asked, " Hitomi, what's wrong?" He 
could tell something was wrong. The look on her face told him that.

   " Van I..........I can't see you anymore," Hitomi replied quietly. 
Tears were now stinging her eyes.

   Van gasped. He hadn't expected her to say this." Nani?"

   " I'm sorry." Hitomi ran off running with the tears spilling down 
her face.

   As Hitomi ran she heard Van yell " Hitomi! Wait" Hitomi didn't 
wait. She had to find Yukari and fast.

   " Yukari! Wait!" Hitomi yelled as she reached were Yukari had been 
sitting. It was after school and Hitomi had to talk to Yukari." We 
need to talk."

   Yukari stood up." There is nothing to talk about Hitomi."

   " Yes there is. I-I broke up with Van. You're my best friend and I 
don't want to loose you."

   Yukari stood, shocked at everthing that Hitomi had just said. 
Yukari turned around and hugged Hitomi." Thank you Hitomi!"

   Hitomi had a look of sadness as Yukari hugged her. When Yuakri 
pulled away Hitomi made herself smile.

   Yukari smiled as well and decided to change the subject. They 
walked home as best friends again.

   " Hitomi! Dinner time!" Mrs. Kanzaki yelled.

   Once Hitomi came down to the kitchen her mom saw the look on 
Hitomi's face." Hitomi, what's wrong?"

   " I broke up with Van."

   Her dad, who had been reading the paper, put it down." Broke up 
with him? Since when were you with him?"

   Hitomi didn't answer. She didn't want to answer. Luckily her 
brother saved the day." Hey, maybe Hitomi doesn't want to tell us. We 
should respect her privacy."

   Hitomi looked at Mamoru and smiled. He smiled back with a look 
that read ' I understand.'

   Mrs. Kanzaki put the food on the table." Well, I hope you know 
Hitomi that you can tell us anything."

   Hitomi smiled at her mom." Thanks everybody."
