| Johnny Rzeznik Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Siblings: four older sisters; Phyllis, Fran, Glad, and Kate He was born to a Polish family on December 5th, 1965, in Buffalo, NY. At the age of 8 he learned how to play the accordian. His mother, Edith, taught him how to play the electric guitar. His father, Joe, was an alcoholic who was constantly beating Johnny's mom. Both of his parents died by the time Johnny was 16. Johnny slowly slipt into his own world where he drank and didn't give a damn about what he was suppose to do in life. Then he discovered music such as the Ramones, the Sex Pistoles, Gang of Four, and such. His former jobs include being a plumber, hot dog vendor, and a bartender. Shortly after Johnny started college, he was in a band called the Beaumonts (named after Hugh Beaumonts) with Robby's cousin, Paul. That's how Johnny met Robby.
