How to spot a fake beyblade

Ever wanted to buy a Japanese beyblade but wasnt sure if it was real or not well these tips will help you spot the a fake or a genuine article.

Extreme World Beyblading 2003

1. Fake beyblades don't have a Copyright Proof Mark on the box! Which usually says D-rights (Circle 1) you will also find a serial number sticker either on the front or at the back of the box.EWB

2. There are no Chinese names printed on a Japanese box so watch out, you may find it difficult to spot at first but the example pictures will help. (Circle 2)EWB

3.'TT Hongli' logo or any other logo printed on all imitation beyblades, In the original Takara beyblade you will only find the Japanese word Takara printed on its own on the box. (Circle 3)EWB

4. All imitation beyblades come standard with ripcord and launcher. But original beyblades have either starter set (Picture 5) or booster (Picture 4) set printed on the top of the box, booster sets don't come with ripcord and launcher. (Exception is Hasbro ones even though they are original licensed product from Takara they do come with ripcord & launcher).EWB

5. Takara beyblade numbers will either start with an A or H but some are just numbers. For example, A-3, H-14 or 43 (Picture 2a) but never with numbers like Q-2 or D-02 (picture 2b)EWB

 6. The name of the beyblade on the left of the box (or on newer packaging it is located at the bottom of the box above the Japanese name. (Picture 4) will always have the word beyblade in front of it. For example Beyblade Galman (Picture 3b) not Galman. (Picture 3a)EWB

7. The launcher that you receive with your blade (if it comes with one) will always be the same colour not two or three different colours. (picture 3a)EWB

Helpful Hints!

If you are not sure your blade is a fake or not then compare it to a blade you know is real. Take a look at the plastic, fake blades almost never have the high quility plastic the comes with the real ones.Extreme World Beyblading 2003

The weight disk is also a big give away, most think come with jumbo size weight disks so you can tell straight away if they are fakes or not. If the weight disk is normal size try to check that it is the proper one that is ment to come with that blade, fake blades ofthen come with 10 wide (like on dragoon v) or 8 wide (like on draggon f). Take a good look at the wieght disk often the weight disks look a different colour from the normal ones this is because they are made from a cheaper metal, sometimes it is easy to spot the poor quility of the metal. Fake weights often are lighter than the originals so check this out too.

Rip cords are a big give away. Nearly all fakes come with the large dragoon style rip cords and as we all should and hopefuly do know very few real blades come with large rip cords.

Unlike hasbro blades not all takara blades come with rip cords and launchers so try to find out which ones do and don't because most fakes usually just come with launchers and rip cords.

A clear give away that the blade is a fake is when you start to put it together, often the the parts don't fit together very well, and don't fit together with other real blades. Hasbro and takara blades should fit together fine.Extreme World Beyblading 2003

Make sure the blade is the right colour e.g. you see a yellow dranzer v2, but when have dranzers been yellow (not including special editions) never! Make sure all the parts are the some colour also e.g. a fake blade may have a yellow attack ring and a blue base.
