This page provides information on the new Extreme
Radio Service (eXRS) available to the general public that operate on the
900 Mhz
ISS band. No license is
required to use this service.
Currently, one manufacturer offers
eXRS
equipment. TriSquare offers two models.
Both radios use Digital Frequency
Hopping Spread spectrum. One offers 100 channels with basic features, and
the other offers 10 billion channels with
alphanumeric displays and text messaging.
These radios
have performance similar to GMRS/FRS radios; but with these additional
advantages:
- Digital
modulation, versus analog for greater clarity, as well as
security.
- Frequency
hopping. No set frequency, communication rotate among several
frequencies to avoid overcrowding and provide comunications
security.
- Up to 10
billion channels! Secure, private communications. No annoying kids
and their call tones to jam your communications.
- Alphanumeric channel assignments as well as group
and private modes.
- No license
required. No confusing license process or having to find out what
channels you can or cannot use.
