| Chapter Two: The First Meeting Bronze, Seven o'clock that evening "Now, this is the life," sighed Xander causing the others to look at him oddly, "Well look, you get to travel, fight, do what you love, have great friends," he paused and gestured around the table to the surrounded Scoobies, "And you get to blow stuff up," he finished with a wry grin causing the other three to chuckle. "That's Xander for you, always thinking about blowing up," Buffy quipped. "I think he meant blowing up other stuff, not himself," Willow teased the blonde. Taking a sip of her drink she replied, "I know," "So are we going to dance or sit here all night like old people?" Xander asked standing. "We're going to dance, of course," Buffy replied as Willow and Oz stood also, they walked out onto the floor. The four of them were grinding to the beat when he walked in, "Damnit I'm twenty-fucking-four years old and I'm in a fucking teeny-bobber dance club, looking for some bird," muttered Spike looking around and that's when he saw her, a drop-dead gorgeous blonde gyrating against a red head between to boys, the four of them looked older than the rest of the teens in the club but too young to be out of college. Spike stood in awe, the blonde goddess was just that, a goddess; he had to meet her. Spike made his way through the crowd toward the girl, with a hand on her shoulder he asked, "Can I have this dance?" Turning Buffy came face to face with a blonde man, his blue eyes shining caused her breath to catch within her throat, she nodded her head. The two moved to the rhythm of the slow music as though they had been doing it for years, "So pet, what's your name?" Spike asked breaking the spell that had fallen over them. "Buffy, what's yours?" she stared into his eyes thinking, gotta love that British accent. "Me, name's Spike." Buffy giggled, "What were your parents on when they named you?" Buffy stiffened when she realized that she just insulted him. With a mock scowl Spike responded in playful banter, "It's a nick-name Buffy, me real name's William." Buffy relaxed, glad that he wasn't mad, "I'll have you know Buffy is a perfectly good name, though it too is just a nick-name, my name is Elizabeth. I don't know why I'm telling you all this," she giggled as the song ended, the two of them moving to an empty table in the corner. Spike chuckling replied, "I see why you prefer Buffy, Elizabeth is," he paused as if thinking. "Hey now, I didn't insult your name," Buffy cried in mock offence. "So B, Your just going to abandoned your friends now that you found a man?" asked Faith walking up. "Hey Faith, how'd the scouting go?" "Good, I found four potentials." Spike watched the conversation with interest, wondering what kind of scouting she meant, "Hey how could I forget my manners, Spike this is Faith, Faith, Spike," Buffy said. "Hello, pet nice to meet you." "Hello blondie, how'd you get stuck with B, here? She tackle ya?" She asked jokenly, she looked at Buffy when she felt a pinch on her leg, she was meant with a glare that could have melted ice. Laughing, "No, actually I chose her." "Oh-" "Faith we gotta find Buff-" Xander cut himself off, "Hey Buff, we got to report to Giles. Its-" Xander paused trying to signify what the situation was without informing the stranger Buffy was sitting next to. Buffy caught on after his hesitation and stood, "I get ya Xand, Giles needs us to fix that leak. Go on ahead, I catch up in a moment." "Yes, ma'am," Xander replied dragging an unwilling Faith away. "Come on Xand, let me stay, I wanna see if B remembers how to kiss," she teased a very red Buffy. Buffy turned away from the two of them to a smirking Spike,"What are you smirking at proxide-boy?" "Nothing Goldilocks, your mates are entertaining, 'specally the whelp," Spike replied cooly. "Yeah, I've known them for-like-ever I guess," she looked at her pager as it vibrated against her leg, "I guess I better fly and help them with that damn," she paused thinking of the excuse, "Leak." "Ok, can I see you tomorrow? Here at nine?" he asked. Smiling Buffy replied, "Sure that would be great, let me give you my number so you can give me a buzz if something changes," she got a pen and paper from her purse that Xander had discretely left for her. "Why luv, I'd be honored to have your number." Giggling Buffy shook her head and handed him the paper with a grin, "See you tomorrow." Buffy said standing. "See you," he replied standing as well, knowing that once the girl left he'd have to get back to work, looking for the Slayer. He watched Buffy leave. |
