| But the gospel is hands on. To learn what is preached and walk in the truth of the bible it must be studied out like the preacher studied it. Different people have different questions and perspectives. A teacher cant answer all of them in 2 hours. And the holy spirit must teach some things or they wont take root in those who only hear the word. I believe that services must be held to testify and exhort, encourage, and yes some teaching, but a Christian should be studying and learning daily. The church service should not be our lifeline. It should not write the book for us only fill in the few blanks we have. Who takes care of the widows? Who takes care of the orphans? Who feeds the homeless? Do you have their names? Right now mainly the government does, the church does just a little. There are more churches than there are homeless people. There are tens of thousands more church members than homeless people. Where is our outstretched hand? Where is our service to the community???? I say if a church spends more on its building and more money paying Salaries than it does feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, raising the orphans and caring for the widows then that church is not fulfilling the commandments of the Lord, and thats sin. (((((Scripture reference on what the Apostles did with the money//Romans?Also study the storehouse, and tithing in the Old testament and compare it to the New testament))))) If there is not enough money to have a big church building, pay the pastors and staff. And take heed to the commandments to feed, house and clothe the needy, then forget the building, commission the pastor and other leaders to be bi-vocational JUST LIKE THE CONGREGATION!! (See the congregation should have a full time ministry too in some form or another). And do the Job Jesus commanded for us to do. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will follow. THE CHURCH AT WAR!! I have heard for decades preachers and churches and most Christian talk about the fact that we are at war. That we are in the midst of a spiritual battle and as Ephesians teaches us that we should always be on guard. I have failed in my 10 years as a Christian to meet a spirit filled born again believe disagree with the fact that we are at war. The belief is that we are at war with the Devil and we must separate ourselves from the world. As it is said, We war not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers of this dark world and the age to come. So Christians and the bible alike agree and confirm that we are at war. Lets talk about war for a minute, what is the nature of war, what are the conditions of war, and what is the price of war? To answer these questions the best thing we can do is look at war as it is faught on earth. |
