TOP SECRET FILES: THE CHURCH Question everything, believe only the truth Intro: I�m finding a new way of looking at things lately. It seems that the current goal to every Christian in America is to find a good church, be faithful to that church, pay there tithes, say their prayers and have a good socially acceptable life. But that seems to be against what God is doing in the earth right now. Today in America we are NOT DOING WELL!!! Not only is our economy falling apart, but also the morality and the standards of the country have continually gone downhill since the 1960�s. And here we are now in the 21st century with climbing abortion rates, increasing murder and crime rates. Teen suicide, Female and male prostitution, a rising pornographic society, STD�s, drug abuse, illegal drug manufacturing and distribution, alcoholism, domestic abuse, an increasing Homeless society, theft, witchcraft, sex out of marriage, adultery, childbirth out of marriage, Homosexuality, divorce rates rising, and all of these things are probably found in almost every town and City across the U.S. of A, should I just stop there or keep going� all this happening in the melting pot of culture in America as we�re �going to hell in a hand basket�, yet the biggest concern in the Church today is how there own local branch is doing. How the service went this week, how many tithes came in, what the attendance was, how many new visitors we had this week. The focus of the church and the concerns of the church and the prayers of the church are centered too much on that single church. Like a 13-year-old girl stares in the mirror thinking only of herself, so is the church. The worship leader is concerned with how many new songs we can learn this week and why everyone is not showing up on time for practice. The Pastor is busy in his office spending 17 hrs a week working on a 45 minute sermon and not tending to his flock or his family. The deacons are worried with the pastor and the elders are concerned with the deacons and the Youth can�t believe that the service is taking so long!!! What have we come to Church!?!?!?!?!?! Is this the epitome of what we have become? I believe that God is beginning a new thing in our church world as we know it. I believe that even though we do church the way we do now, I do not believe that it�s the best way, and I do not believe that there is any good reason to keep it the way it is if a better way were to present itself. One Might ask �So what�s so wrong with the way we do church today?� To effectively explain this we have to take a good look at history. The church of today is set up in an old testament format, where the priest and the Pastor in the church is seen as the Kingship of the Church. The Pastor is your personal link to God. He�s the one who is counted on to pray for you, to teach you, and to tell you all the spiritual things that you want to hear. Not that the Pastor shouldn�t teach or pray, but the Pastor is a Guide, and a coach, He should not be your Priest. |
