| Mountain of Life Standing in a field Looking over a lake Gazing at the mountains While the sun shines on her face At a distance on her right Lies a forest of enormous trees And to her left are the hills Which she goes to when she needs Directly behind her lies her past Which she has no ability to change Ahead is the future And through fog is how she sees She desires so much Her hopes are set so high But how to obtain all she wants She knows nothing to do but try. When she fails it depresses her so And now she wonders where to go Night falls so she lies down to rest All her problems hanging heavy on her breast As the sun rises And she awakes to a new day She notices the fog has cleared away The mountains gleam with snow caps And the lake glistens with light from the sun Her problems seem to have gone And carefree she stands Starting her journey Towards the mountain of life Knowing inside that shell find The answers to all of her strife Her eyes have a twinkle As she thinks things through And she focuses ahead with a majestic peace She know her sorrows have been replaced So she marches ahead each day As the sun rises and she crawls out of bed To Carrie Elmore Micheal Melton 1997 |
