Pick one of the sets of measurements (listed at the bottom of page).
For this example, we'll choose the first set:
1a. 10
b. 2 - 6 - 4
a represents one end of the paper,
b represents the other end.
10 inches on the a side is measured out

and marks for spaces 2 inches apart, 6 inches apart, and 4 inches apart are made on side b
(the middle number is a "gap" in the drawing)
A drawing that works with these numbers might look like this:
This set will line up with the set under it,
2a. 2 - 6 - 4
b. 9
Set 2 could then be measured as such:

and when sets 1 and 2 are put together, they might look like this:
... and so forth. The individual pieces can be made of anything, and be of any size as long as it connects up to the pieces above and below it.
