PASSU VILLAGE

The village of Passu is located among the towering peaks of the Karakoram mountain range. A peaceful idyll in the very heart of magnificent surrounding mountain scenery: Pointed unclimbed and unclimbale rock peak, ice-demes with sharp fluted ridges; stand like knife blades. The village is surrounded by a huge wall of mountains and is the base of three important valleys: Shimshal, Khurijerab and Batura, as well as the short valley of the Passu Glacier.
On the way to Shimshal and Pamir, there are nine glaciers. Each glacier represents a medium trek of 7 days or more, From the glaciers flow streams which empty into the Shimshal River.
The Kunjerab stream is fed along the ay by the Mintaka Misgar and Yes-Kuk Chipurson streams which become the Kunjerab River.
From the forty - mile long glacier of batura flows water with such forcefulness that the Batura River has, on occasion, damaged the R.C.C. bridge in Karakoram highway (KKH).
These three rivers from the three large valleys join at Passu, therefore it can be side the Passu is the water shed of the three nallas ( Valleys).
Passu is a base and kick- off point for trekkers heding for the diferent valleys
