| Lesson 3:
Date & Time: Sunday 12/23/2007 Where: UZA Instruction: 1 hour (ground) Dual Instruction with Derek Alter Bad weather: More groundwork today due to bad weather - we talked a little about radio work at our uncontrolled field, and what to say, when to say it, and useful things that tell other pilots flying in the area where we are at. We reviewed the different parts of the airplane, the fuselage, wings, empennage, landing gear, engine, etc. We reviewed how a reciprocating engine works and we reviewed the cooling and exhaust systems. I was introduced to the flight instruments and which instruments are affected by the pitot-static system. A lot of this information was a review for me since I was already familiar with many types of aircraft and played many flight simulators. Conclusion: Again, flying lessons without flying. Not too excitingI know Im kind of blowing over the ground lessons, but it is what it is. Reading and reciting or trying to memorize all you can. My strategy to read a bit everyday is going well. Taking notes helps me to remember things. I also decided to purchase a DVD course so that I can review our lessons visually after Derek introduces them to me. I havent started watching them yet. |
