EDITING TIP OF THE WEEK

Consider using the "serial comma" when listing three or more items. An example (notice the comma after "eggs" in the second example):

Without serial comma:

We went to the store to buy bread, eggs and milk.

With serial comma:

We went to the store to buy bread, eggs, and milk.

Note: not all writing style guides recommend the serial comma, but it is considered standard American English.
