| Sometimes it's like your trudging through this obscurity we call hell You thought you'd picked the perfect path, but you regret it now I can tell If you had the chance to start over again, you would have surely picked a different road But now that you've chosen this route, you must continue to carry your load Terrified to keep going, even more so to stop, you want to turn around and retreat But somewhere in the back of your mind you remember what it was you came to complete The only way to accomplish your goal is to make it all the way to the end You were trying to leave behind a world that's full of masquerades and of pretend The path that leads away from the illusions in life, from deception, from all of the lies If you want to escape from the darkness, you're going to have to open your eyes The road isn't easy as you walk it alone, but you'll be rewarded when you are done You had made it through the most difficult part once you had already begun But to keep on going still requires much courage, it's all right to be afraid Take a glance back down that road and you'll see the progress that you've made Looking back you realize you've left your safe haven and you walk a treacherous lane Ahead of you lie innumerable obstacles and the ominous promise of pain And you wonder if it's worth all of that, looking back at what you left behind The unpromised paradise or the guaranteed void, you weigh it all on your mind Having gone halfway in, you're starting to falter, your mind filling up with doubt But don't turn around and retreat just yet because the other half leads you out If you always go out the way you came in, you will end up right back where you start But you can make it through all the darkness if you just keep following your heart |
