As a child I navigated realms of squelch and static with a crystal radio screwed to a piece of wood on the top bunk in my bedroom, I could slide a beige plastic mono earphone into my ear and look out the window into the darkness, venturing through sonic space with the turn of a knob, crackles, hisses and disconnected commentary beamed in as if by magic, invisible in the air around me tapped directly into my imagination.
