News from the VanTour
Earlier in February Kt-pai and Rima returned home after four months travelling in Europe, New England, Colorado, and Rarotonga.
Touring in VW was great. People waved, honked, flashed lights, we really felt welcome in Europe. There were only a few moments on the roads involving HUGE trucks which raised the stress levels a little.
And we happened across some great characters.
Just inside Italy coming south from Villach we had stop at a petrol station for fuel and a toilet ... coming from Austria I automatically recited "toiletten bitte?" The very smiley and strangely polite Italian girl behind the counter directed me around the back.
Well when I returned to the camper Reems said a man had come up to her and smiled. So she said a well practiced, "Bonjourno". Then he chatted to her for about five minutes in Italian and presented her with two walnuts. "Grazie!", said Reems and took the offering. He replied with a friendly yet disdained "Prego" as he rode off on his bike!
When I was cleaning out the camper back in England I found a walnut . I laughed.
