| I was born in Mexico, a country where family is the most important social unit and our most important value is hard work. My family of eight prides itself on this value, exemplified by my father and mother's lives of dedicated work. My father, when he was a teenager, worked as a busboy and now he is a trainer in a big restaurant company. He triumhet over adversity as he came from a poor family and has never had many apportunities for study. With the example of his life, he teaches me that, with dedicated work and responsability, I can attain my goals of giving service to people. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| While I studied electronics, I was a volunter in my local Parish in which I taught catechisn -the faith of the Roman Catholic Church-- to children and adolescents. I also organize retreats for the youth group at the same parish. With these experiences, I archieved some of my goals for giving service to people, but that was not enough for me. I completely wanted to give my life to the service of others, so I decided o became a Catholic priest. For this reason, after I received my technical degree in electronics, I studied philosophy in the Seminary of Mexico for four years. I had many pastoral experiences in which I learned that ministry is an opportunity to care for everyone, prisoners, AIDS patients who were dealing with the fatal disease, the prejudice of people in my country against gays, and poor Mexican people whose major problems were the bad conditions in their barrios. |

| After four years, I discontinued my studies in the Seminary because I wanted to discern my vocation to the priesthood. After that, I did minor accounting in a private business while studying education. I took courses in Philosophy because I was dedicated to learning more so that I could come closer to accomplishing my goal of giving service to people. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Eight years ago, I came to USA, invited for a missionary congregation to discern God's plan for my life. After one year and half, I discern that God's plan in my life is to give service to people, as catholic laity, out of any religious community. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The last five years I was a Community Organizer, in Contra Costa County. I finished my Master degree in Theolgical Studies. My School in Berkeley CA and my last job. gave me a multicultural atmosphere and special education, which is very important for my goal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
