Did We Really Land on the Moon?
by
Rohn DeSilva
I have dedicated these pages to answering the question posted by Apollo Hoax Theorist to the claim that NASA (and their astronaunts) never landed on the moon.
Van Allen Belt
Films Used
Claim:
There can't be any pictures taken on the Moon because the film would melt in the 250 temperatures.
Truth:
The Apollo astronauts used what was, at the time, a special transparency film produced by Eastman Kodak under a NASA contract. The photosensitive emulsions layers where placed on an ESTAR polyester film base, which had previously been used primarily for motion picture film. The melting point of Estar is 490 F, although some shrinkage and distortion can occur at around 200 F. Fortunately the film was never exposed to this kind of temperature. The cameras were protected inside a special case designed to keep them cool. The situation on the airless Moon is much different than in your oven, for instance. Without convection or conduction, the only method of heat transfer is radiation. Radiative heat can be effectively directed away from an object by wrapping it in a material with a reflective surface, usually simply a white material. The camera casings, as well as most of the astronauts' clothing, were indeed white.

Flag Waving
Claim:
If their is no air on the moon, why is the flag waving?
Truth:
Hold your flag out in a day with almost no wind, what happen? The flag will flop. Now move the flag, what happens? The flag will fly as if there is a brisk wind. This is due to simple inertia. When the US flag was planted, a stiffening rod was placed at the top so it would stand out. Initially the flag flopped since there wasnt any air resistance and when the astronauts move the flag it flew and when the flag was planted it stood out due to the stiffening rod.
Neutral Point
Claim:
Conspiracy theorists states that there is neutral point between Earth and Moon where the gravitational force of the two would cancel out and thus creating a neutral point. It is assume by the CT that at this point astronauts would be experience momentary weightlessness. Yet neither the astronauts nor the NASA refer to this important point in their journey from or to the moon.
Truth:
According to the Newtons Universal Gravitational force theory, any two objects exert a force on one another. The force can be calculated by inverse square law. Suppose there two object in space (in this case Moon and Earth) with masses, m and M respectively. The distance between Earth and Moon is r. The according the Newtons Universal Gravitational force theory, the force exerted on one another is,
F=G mM / r2
According to this theory, there is a point in between Earth and Moon, where the force exerted by one another would cancel out, thus the so called neutral point.
Theoretical the above statement in correct on the assumption that the two objects are in absolute vacuum (that is mass due to its medium isnt taken into account), that there are no other objects in space and thus LM is on free trajectory.
1/6th gravity on the moon
Claim:
Instead of being able to jump at least ten feet high in "one sixth" gravity, the highest jump was about nineteen inches.
Truth:
This is one of the most ridiculous assumption for two simple reasons. First the astronauts were burden with their heavy space suit and many other instruments on their backpack. The extra weight on their back would reduce their ability to take huge steps. Even if they were able to take giant step in low gravity, why would the astronaunts jump six or seven feet in the air when they have no reason to do so. Human on earth has the ability to jump atleast two or three feet in the air but uet we take simple small step whn we walk. Just because we are able to jump that high doesn't mean we have to and nor does the astronaunts are expected to leap over tall building on the moon due to low gravity.
Moon has no atmosphere
Claim:
Apollo 14 astronaut Allen Shepard played golf on the Moon. In front of a worldwide TV audience, Mission Control teased him about slicing the ball to the right. Yet a slice is caused by uneven air flow over the ball. The Moon has no atmosphere and no air.
Truth:
There couple of reason for slicing a golf ball. It could be due to the angle of impact of the golf head with the ball or the way he was holding the club. Either of them could have caused him to slice the ball. Having said that, no one is sure where the ball went went. The key word is "tease". Mission control was merely teasing him.
