Existentialism is a philosophical view that stresses on concrete individual existence and consequently, on subjectivity, individual freedom, and choice. Elements of Existentialism can be found in the works of Plato (the thoughts and the life of Socrates), in the Bible, and in the works of many pre-modern philosophers and writers, but Existentialism itself is a philosophical and literary movements from that belongs to the 19th and 20th centuries.
