How is a Tsunami different from a Normal Wave?

A Tsunami is not like a wind generated wave. It is closer to a very low frequency sound wave under water. The movement of the tectonic plates gives the ocean a shove which affects motion of water throughout the water column.

Below is an animation of a longitudinal wave. Notice how the water molicules  are moving as much on the bottom as on the top:
Compare the above longitudinal wave to a wind generated surface wave and notice how the water molicules on the bottom do not move at all:
