This is my best friend, Nicki. We have been friends since we were second graders, and in spite of both of us having moved more than once, as well as my having changed schools twice before starting college, we have amazingly been able to keep in touch with each other no matter what. Most of the friends I made as a second grader I no longer know. Of those friends, I only know Nicki and one other girl now: Brandy. Unfortunately, Brandy and I aren't as close as Nicki and I are. Brandy and I are good friends, but we don't talk much or even try to talk much. Additionally, it doesn't seem to me that she and I have as much in common as Nicki and I do. When Nicki and I lose touch, we end up back in touch within maybe a year or two, I guess. It's sort of hard to estimate because we've been out of touch for VERY LONG periods of time before and I honestly don't recall how long it lasted. But frankly, if we ever lost touch FOREVER, I can guarantee you I would be HEARTBROKEN. I know because I suddenly realized the true value of our friendship when I discovered she had moved one time and no one would tell me where she was. I instantly burst into tears, fearing that our then 10-year-old friendship had come to a close and I would never see or hear from her again. Mama
comforted me and then tried to get someone to tell HER where Nicki was. It didn't do much good, but it made me feel a tiny bit better. Thank goodness all that time is over now and Nicki and I are back to talking fairly often. I hope nothing like that ever happens again, but honestly, it's the least of my worries right now. :) We're best friends, and I don't expect anything to go wrong with our friendship in the near future. I truly must say that our friendship is a beautiful blessing from God. :)
Please note that all of the pictures of us together are almost 10 years old. We've stayed in touch through the years, but we haven't SEEN each other much during this time. The above photo of her is the only one I have that is recent. The other photos are the only other ones I have, and they are MUCH older. Some of them aren't as old as others, but most of them are almost 10 years old, so just note that she and I look older now. We're definitely taller, and I think probably bigger, too. I hope to eventually have lots of newer photos of both of us, but that will likely be a while. Anyway, enjoy the photos. |
