About DeMolay

The Order of DeMolay was founded in Kansas City, Missouri in March of 1919 by a man named
Frank Sherman Land and nine young men from the Kansas City area.
From the stories of chivalry and knighthood told to them by Land, the nine young men selected the name "DeMolay" for their club.

Jacques DeMolay was the last Grand Master the Knight Templars.  The "Templars" were a monastic order of knighthood commisioned by the Pope to fight the Crusades in the Holy Land and to protect the roadways for pilgrims travelling from Western Europe to the Holy Land.  The story of the last stand of DeMolay and his Officers before the French Papal Inquisition and King Phillip IV of France is a lesson of loyalty and toleration - And the very foundation of the Order of DeMolay.
