smaller clothing.) Other than the "floating rib" and hair and eye

colorations, Therans are indistinguishable from either Terrans or

Betazoids.

Religious Affiliation: The Theran culture includes a polytheistic

religion, which is universal and unnamed. Within this religion, each

individual is designated as under the protection of a certain deity,

much like the "patron saint" concept in Terran Catholicism. These are

identified in a coming of age ceremony usually held at age 20, at

which time standard schooling is also completed and the individual is

considered an adult. All Therans wear a bracelet inset with a series

of gemstones; these serve to identify that Theran's affiliation, and

also are considered the mark of adulthood. Starfleet has granted

permission for Therans to wear these bracelets with their uniforms, on

the same basis as Bajoran earring use.
Family: 

Cialinale was orphaned at age four, and raised by the Theran

government social services system. Her listed next of kin is her

roommate from the Academy, Ensign Claire Alyson McPherson, currently

assigned to the OPS department, Starbase Gibraltar.
Assets:

A pair of 3-centimeter wide silver bracelets, each set with four

emeralds; one is constantly worn on each wrist, and each is engraved

(on the inside surface) with her name in both Theran and Terran

characters.

A Theran wire-strung harp, small enough to be carried in an

Personal Traits:

Cialinale - commonly known as Cia - is an avid musician, and

practices with her Theran wire-strung harp often. She has many

hobbies, due to the fact that unlike Terrans and Betazoids - whom

Therans are often mistaken for, since they share a similar physiology

- Therans only require about four hours of sleep every night. These

hobbies generally involve reading, music, and tinkering with small

objects (often restoring objects of historical interest, such as

antiques).
Therans are also empathic, though not telepathic, and can often

anticipate emotional or physical reactions seconds in advance. They

have a knack for avoiding dangerous situations by fractions of a

second, due to this ability, though it sometimes fails when the danger

comes from inanimate objects. They also have limited telekinetic

abilities, but Cialinale's are rated at almost the minimum (a three on

a zero to one hundred scale), and she is unable to make conscious use

of them. They have been witnessed to manifest when she is startled or

extremely stressed, and can include short-range interference with

electronics, explosions of fragile objects, and impossible movements

of very small objects (such as a spinning knife on a table, without

any visible influences). In general, these abilities manifest

themselves similarly to a very low-level magnetic field, though they

are not actually magnetic in nature, and thus do not read on scanning

devices.
