Entry for November 9, 2007
I got the MGMG picture printed, and framed today. I have made progress on getting another alcohol assessment done. I talked to many people over the last two days about my situation, but the most help I have recieved was talking to other alcoholics, who called me for a sympathetic ear. Proof positive that helping others, a life of service, truly does help. When I was emersed in helong someone else overcome their fears and pain caused by a lifetime of drinking, I truly was at peace with myself, and my problems seemed more manageable. Like I said I went and got the MGMG picture printed up at Kinko's today, then went to Target with my mother. I got 3 phone calls from fellow cult members today, and called thee others myself. I also read the 3rd Step in the 12&12, and Bill's Story, in the Big Book. The first call was from a new member to the cult, and he's deperssed, lonley, miserable. I spent an hour on the phone with him. We talked about many things. I think we covered almost the entire 12 Steps in that conversation. I then called a thearapist that was recomeneded to me by another cult member who is a social worker. I only got his voice mail, and was not called back, but I will call him on Monday, early. Also the social worker reminded me about that silly paper that I got before starting any kind of treatment, my "Patients Rights" pamphlet that I never read. On Monday I'll be calling my Patient Rights advocate to talk to them about what I can do about this Doctor lying on my psyche eval. Then I received a phone call from a fellow cult member that I talk to regularly, and haven't heard from in a while. He's doing well, having just moved into another appartment, and his job problems aren't over, but they are sorting themselves out slowly. It was good to hear from him, and he is having a "House Warming" Party on the 17th. And then again, I got a call from another cult member, who has started working 2 jobs, and I rarely see anymore. She had heard through a mutual friend about my difficulties, and lended some advice and the name of her shrink as a possible person to do another psyche eval. I calle dmy sponsor. He has a possible job opportunity for me tomorrow. We'll see how that pans out, he'll be picking me up tomorrow to go check it out. I hope I am qualified to do the kind of work she needs done, it sounds like odd jobs, but we'll see, one day at a time! Then I called a cult member for a ride to a meeting, we showed up late, but it was a good meeting, we than went out for coffee and talked for at least an hour and a half. I also called a fellow cult member for a ride to tomorrow's 8 AM meeting at St joe's. I felt very connected to the program today.
