Entry for September 18, 2007

I got a new rear rim/tire for my bike today, as well as filled out the form to get my medical records for my DL Hearing. I worked at 3pm, and afterwards hooked my fellow cultist up with a cable that allowed him to run his PC through his stereo. I also gave him a few Albums, it felt good to help him out, he's such a nice guy. I hit the UAW meeting at 7:30. I opened it. We talked about the 9th Tradition, it was the first time I had been at a table that discussed the Traditions. It was different, but still good. I can see how people came to believe that service work can keep you sober, I always feel better when I do it. I gave my number to an "new" member of the cult today, and I hope he uses it. He followed a reugular member of the Tuesday night meeting, because he asked him to be his sponsor. THats got to take balls, asking someone to be your sponsor, I had a built in one when I cam into the cult. Hopefully, now that he has a sponsor, he will start calling folks, and working the steps. I have hope for him, even if he doesn't have it yet himself. I am going to have lunch with a fellow cult member who has recently lost his job tomorrow, who has become closer to me lately (a closer friend, more involved in my life, you know) He seems to still have high spirits, but we could all use some moral & morale support. I started to read Sobriety and Beyond today, but after reading the intro it seems like a very heavy read. I am not sure if I am going to read it. I have my hands full just getting through the Big Book and the 12 & 12. I can read quite quickly, whe reading for enjoyment, but reading the B.B. and such, takes me forever. I am not sure if I am ready to take on another "heavy" read. Funny that someone who reads as much as I do (have in the past) am balking about reading one little book, it's only 380ish pages long. I read two such length books in one week, two weeks ago. But, like I said, this is heavy stuff, oh well, maybe I'll just enter it into my cult reading agenda, throw it into the rotation, so to speak, instead of trying to read it like a regular book. I'll think on it later, as will I write more tomrrow.
