Introduction of Artist Deric Ch'ng
Deric Ch'ng is a self taught young Chinese Malaysian artist originally from the Penang Island of Malaysia. Over the past few years, he has participated in many exhibitions in and around his home country. He considers his stay in the UK an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the English countryside and the unpredictability of the English weather. He hopes to be able to translate this experience into his paintings and that later in the year some of these experiences may be put into exhibits at several local galleries in the United Kingdom.
Most of his work is on architectural studies, landscapes and the occasional portrait. His main medium is watercolour because it gives him the opportunity to work with a flexible yet quick drying medium.
Lately his style has developed from loose water colour to photo realistic as he likes to add textures and fine details to the finished drawing. He thinks this will give him a new challenge in his painting.
