VENOM NIELSONS RATINGS BY MIKE SUMMERS

10/09/01

Opener: Exile and Saphio 3.7

Exile demands a match, Saphio reminds him he has one. Good start, funny stuff. Both of these guys should be doing more comic relief during the show. Next question though where does Saphio go?

Fazzer vs. The General 4.1

Awesome! This is hardcore, not cookie sheets and staple-guns to the crotch (someone memo O'Connor). Superplexes, the Van Terminatorerr, I mean 'Darkness Falls' blood, guts and glory! Cazzo screwing Fazzer screams feud to me. Lets see it! And, now we know whose going to face Exile and Christ at Havoc. I still hate the gimmick, but The General has proven he can 'go'. A MUCH better start than last week.

Ex-Terminator vs. Jason Drake 4.1

It still amazes me that a big man like Ex-T can get about like he does. The man is huge, and he moves about as though he were well, slightly less huge. Drake put in a great performance, and the finish was just spectacular. Drake's got a big future here, and it's nice to see Ex-T hasn't lost a step in his absence. Disappointing to see Creeping Death take a loss in their first match, but this match was in no way a disappointment! Hey, do you think I could get everyone to start calling Ex-T

ET?

That'd be a great chant. Come on people make it happen for me.

Danny Christ vs. Joe Johnson 4.0

What the Hell was Danny doing in this ring with that injury, against the most vicious man to grace the mats here at the EWCL?! Going into this match with several broken ribs, Christ got crushed in one of the most gruesome outings we've seen in a long time here in the EWCL. It's scary Johnson takes Hardcore to a whole other level! Some of those chair shots made my head hurt. The Crown of Crimson is a sickening move, but quite honestly it's like a car wreck, you just can't look away. Rematch, rematch! Can Danny make it back from this loss for Havoc? I can't see how it'd be in his interest to even try. With his aggravated injuries, Christ should steer well clear of Exile and The General.

President Cazzo Announces Last of Havoc Matches 3.9

We've got the card, and it's pure gold. KK versus Rage, Exile versus Christ (we'll see) versus General, Joe versus Dan, Drake versus Ex-T, and if I'm right, Cazzo versus Fazzer? After this show, you'd be a mug not to buy this pay-per-view. Promises to be the best event of the year. Man, not since Glory and Corvik have I been this excited about a Main Event!

Dan Prohibition vs. Kritical Kondition 4.4

The revenge match we had to see! A brilliant technical match, which is no more than we'd expect to see from Corvik. However, Dan showed again that he's got the potential to go all the way here in the EWCL. Do you remember when he used to be the opening match? Seems like a lifetime ago. The match was evenly wrestled for the most part until Corvik locked in the 'Darkest Hour'. Dan went out, but Corvik wouldn't drop it. And then Rage! I almost choked fear of the inevitable gripped me. Rage was going to save Dan! I almost switched off the television, thinking last week's writers must have been killed in a car accident and the new bunch hadn't seen the previous episode. Thankfully, Rage just chased of Corvik, although I'm still uncertain as to why. Corvik and Prohibition gave it their all, yet even they had to recognise that it was overall a disappointing ending to what could have been a brilliant feud... or at least a feud. Dan incites a rally that causes the death of Corvik's cousin come on! That's worth more than one match. I wanted to see Corvik kill Prohibition, or Prohibition finish Corvik and proclaim his innocence. This could have been should have been a brutal bout! Both men delivered an excellent match, but this needed to be so much more. This needed that feeling of vengeance. Can we hope and pray this isn't over? Does Corvik fear giving Prohibition the rub losing his spot? Or is Cazzo a little nervous about the negative publicity this one is drawing from public interest groups? Great match, but should have been a contender for match of the year. This was the highest rater of the night, but didn't live up to expectations.

Exile vs. The Rage 4.3

Another brilliant match! Okay, so no one expected O'Connor to drop the title a week before the biggest match of all time, but nobody told these two that. O'Connor and Exile took it to each other as though this was the Main Event at Havoc. Exile threw O'Connor about the ring like a rag doll for much of the match (seems to be a trademark for O'Connor to have the snot beaten out of him before winning), displaying that vicious side his opponent had demanded of him. Corvik came to the ramp, and in a stroke of brilliance didn't interfere! Thank God! The stare was all that was necessary to lift O'Connor, and the Champ battled back to finish Exile with the Revelation but he didn't pin him! Oh no, he proceeded to introduce a new submission finisher for the win (I really hope it's not called the Gangsta Stretch what, Snoop Ricky Rick-O?). O'Connor and Corvik stare off as the show closes and I have goose bumps.

Average 4.0

Considering last week's outing, the writers were obviously locked into a room together and not allowed out until they wrote a program that made sense. This show fit the bill. Venom was one of the best in a long time. A series of one on ones that told a story, without the screwy endings that had everybody switching off last week. The show built up Havoc perfectly, and all in all was one of the most exciting this year. Plus, it saw the ratings rebound from the slump of last week. Brilliant build up for a HUGE pay-per-view. If the post Havoc show is good, and we already know it'll see a return match between Rage and Dan for the Tag Titles, Venom should rate through the roof! See you in two.
