Well, that's what Ive always wanted to do to Rene Zellwegerexcept that she already looks like someone beat me to it. But, peeps, I gotta say she kinda rocks in her new film, Down with Love, a snazzy, stylish caper of the heart. I never thought her tremendously worthy of the newfound fashionista status she gained on the back of Gallianos hog, but in this new color wheel of a flick she looks fab, all dressed to the nines in Jackie O. pillboxed glory. Think coordinated ensembles inspired by Oleg Cassini, Givenchy and Balenciaga. At the prescreening and dinner that followed at La Goulue (a setting perfectly in sync with the film's trs chic backdrops), hostesses like Tory Burch, Liz Cohen, Gigi Mortimer, Marina Rust, Cristina Greeven Cuomo, Carol Mack and Lucy Sykes all gushed about the movie, while marveling how the always stunning designer Kate Spade looked like she could have been cut and pasted into the celluloid. Other guests included Kate's husband, Andy Spade, Chris and Amanda Brooks, Tiffany Dubin and Rachel Peters. Butto the chagrin of all the ladies presentRene's costar Ewan McGregor was not on hand for us to worship. His portrayal of Don Juan journalist Catcher Block had everyone swooning and making pronouncements that he is the next Hugh Grant (especially now that Hugh is taking a self-imposed hiatus to embark on a wife safari). Ewan must've been off shooting the next Star Wars or something, alas. Hopefully he knows he can park his lightsaber under any society gal's four-poster princess bed after that pitter-patter-inducing performance. - Ewan features in the May issue of Details magazine, including an excellent article and heaps of pics!!!! I think it's only available in America but if anyone sees it for sale in Australia, e-mail me please! - HMV stores are reporting that the Special Edition of Trainspotting will feature the following extras: -- Audio Commentary With Director Danny Boyle And Ewan McGregor -- Deleted Scenes -- Interview With Irvine Welsh -- Danny Boyle Injection Scene -- Behind The Music -- Behind The Production -- Cannes Party Footage -- Newly Filmed Retrospective Interviews With Danny Boyle, John Hodge And Andrew MacDonald -- Marketing Gallery -- Film Analysis With Mark Kermode -- Biographies -- Widescreen 1.85:1 -- Dolby Digital 5.1 Release may be June 2nd. - Ewan and Renee were filming a video for their Down With Love duet? Actress Rene Zellweger and actor Ewan McGregor with a party of 10 dining at Bluepointe in Buckhead. The twosome told locals they're filming a video in town...sounds interesting eh! - In an interview with William Joyce, The Advocate notes that Ewan McGregor will be providing one of the voices in the upcoming 20th Century Fox movie Robots. "It's about an entire planet of robots, and how cool and terrifying that can be," Joyce said, adding that it should appeal to adults as well. Among those lending voices to Robots, which has been five years in the making, will be actors Mel Brooks, Ewan McGregor, Halle Berry, Stanley Tucci, Diane Weist, Drew Carey and Jim Broadbent. Responding to demands from its legions of fans -- including a rally in front of its studio lot -- Twentieth Century Fox has agreed to set midnight shows of the beloved Oscar(R)-winning film MOULIN ROUGE, exclusively at the Mann Festival Theater in Westwood. For the past several months, Fox has received a steady influx of calls and letters demanding the film's return to theaters. The fans' outcries culminated in a rally in front of the studio last week by a group of colorful individuals, lead by Bridgette of Madison County, garbed in the courtesan regalia similar to that worn by Nicole Kidman as Satine in MOULIN ROUGE. Commented Fox domestic distribution president Bruce Snyder: "Ever since MOULIN ROUGE came off of theatrical release, people have been contacting us requesting that we bring it back as a midnight show. Since the film has become nothing less than a cultural phenomenon and helped launch the 'rebirth' of the current wave of movie musicals, like 'Chicago', re-releasing MOULIN ROUGE as a midnight show seems like a good idea." - DWL poster now available at Allposters.com - DWL will be released at the same time as The Matrix:Reloaded...stiff competition i think... - Val-Pak partnered with 20th Century Fox for the release of two motion pictures, Down With Love, and X2, the sequel to X-Men, the Marvel Comics-based hit of 2000.
