- Quote from fellow Down With Love actress Melissa George from this week's Wow magazine: "I had some good scenes with Ewan. Working with him was great. And we did a photo shoot together for Vanity Fair. We danced to some Beatles songs and Ewan wore a James Bond suit and I wore my blue pillowbox hat."

- Ewan McGregor's status will shoot up when Variety makes him the focus of a special UK-themed issue. Studios and producers will pay tribute to him, taking out ads at up to $10,000 a page. Variety will also name Ewan UK Personality Of The Year at the British Independent Film Awards on 30 October.

- A new book by a former computer expert turned author has hit the shelves and looks set to become a bestseller. Mil Millington's novel, "Things my girlfriend and I have argued about" appeared in bookshops on Thursday. Ewan is one of the names tipped to star in a big screen version of the book.

- Ewan last night paid tribute to the brother who helped him swap his pod racer for a Tornado jet. A charity dinner at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Moray, was held to mark the end of brother Colin McGregor's time as an RAF display team pilot. He and female colleague Andrea McColl have flown at dozens of events to raise funds for Rachel House children's hospice. Colin, 32, even got his movie-star brother into the cockpit for one flight. Last night, Ewan said: "We've reached half our target of 10million to build a new hospice."

- Ewan came 8th in an international celebrity kiss list...he so is 1st to me!

- Happy Birthday to Ewan's Uncle Denis Lawson for yesterday!

- Ewan, Peter Ackroyd and Suggs, turned up at Hazlitt, Gooden & Fox in London's St.James's on Tuesday night for a private view of Paul Simonon's paintings. Simonon, formerly bass player in The Clash, demonstrated he has a fine pair of lungs as well as nimble fingers. When asked why his work consisted entirely of London landscapes, he burst into song with "Maybe It's Because I'm a Londoner". (Here's the best bit!) Meanwhile, outside the gallery where the smokers congregated, McGregor proved himself a real life as well as on-screen hero. One young lady tripped at the top of the stairs and could have caused herself a serious mischief had the actor not swiftly sprung into action and caught her in his arms. She later vowed not to wash the part of her anatomy which had been graced by the heart-throb's touch 'for at least a week'. LOL...

- What a recent onlooker of Ewan has said: "I saw him in a shop in London and he looked just fantastic. He was wearing a biker jacket, a white T-shirt and a very well-cut pair of jeans. He looked understated and doesn't try to stand out with the way he dresses, but my God, he is gorgeous."

- Ewan made it to number 9 on the list of sexiest UK voices. Sean Connery was number 1.

- A funny piece of advise Ewan gave a fellow Scot actor recently:  "don't sleep with the director." HEHE

- There is heaps of stuff coming out about Borgia, here is just a taste:

Were the Borgias Italy's first Mafia family or misunderstood Renaissance aesthetes? Our critic examines the evidence

The Borgias are back. The most villainous and decadent of Italys great Renaissance families is being celebrated in books and films, and in a major Italian exhibition which opens in Rome next week.
The fascination with the dynasty which produced the most notorious and dissolute Pope in history Alexander VI, who served from 1492-1503 is not hard to explain. The late Mario Puzo, who wrote The Godfather, saw the Borgias as the first Mafia family. His last, posthumous novel, The Family (HarperCollins), is about the Borgias, and paints a vivid picture of Renaissance rule marked by high-level incest, murder and extortion, with walk-on parts for Michelangelo, da Vinci, Machiavelli and Savonarola.

Film directors have seized on the possibilities. Neil Jordan is making an epic with John Malkovich as Machiavelli, Christina Ricci as the bewitching Lucrezia Borgia, and Ewan McGregor as her evil and scheming brother, Cesare Borgia, the model for Machiavellis The Prince. A rival film is in the works, with Monica Bellucci as Lucrezia.

- Ewan was the other night named Scottish film star of the year at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow. The Scot was among many high profile stars who attended the Scottish People's Film Awards. It was Scotland's own blockbuster of the year. Stars of the big and small screen gathered together to celebrate the talent in the Scottish film industry. Ewan MacGregor said: "Scottish film's had a really good year and the last three years. At a time when it seems to becoming harder and harder to be making films in this country with Channel Four collapsing and Granada films collapsing. There's a strength of film making in Scotland that feels like we're digging our heels in so it's nice for a night like that to celebrate that."

- Ewan awarded The Variety UK Personality Award This year. The Variety UK Personality Award, the only award not voted for by the Jury, honours Ewan McGregor. Says Steven Gaydos, Executive Editor of Variety As the Variety award is presented at the British Independent Film Awards, no major U.K. star over the past decade has toiled as actively in independent films as Ewan McGregor. It's our great pleasure and honour to celebrate Ewan's career at the BIFA Awards and it is also extremely meaningful for Variety to make a contribution in his name to Ewan's most special charity, Rachel House, Scotlands first childrens hospice. The 5th Annual British Independent Film Awards will be held at Pacha London on Wednesday 30th October from 7.15pm.

- Ewan is thinking of being in the sequel to his breakthrough film Trainspotting. The movie was based on a book by Scots writer Irvine Welsh, who has now published a second instalment about the adventures of a group of heroin junkie friends entitled Porno. A film version is planned, but McGregor says he doesn't yet know whether he'll reprise his role as Mark Renton. He says, "I have bought it, but not got around to picking it up. I have no idea if I'd be suitable - you'd have to ask Irvine."

The four films being planned will have budgets of about 25 million. It's about a neer-do-well wood pigeon who aspires to the prestigious position of messenger for the RAF in the Second World War. McGregor is believed to be in final negotiations to take the leading role.
Here is a pic:

- Ewan McGregor had the hottest ticket in town the night before last as he cut the ribbon to officially open the new 20million Harvey Nichols store in Edinburgh. Later more than 500 celebrity guests, including the Atomic Kittens' Jenny Frost and Kylie's model boyfriend James Gooding, watched as Ewan raised 20,000 for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland from an auction of one-off designer kilts. Ewan told the crowd: "We are trying to raise 10m to ease the pressure on Rachel House - this cash will go a long way to giving children and their parents the break they need."
Here is a pic from that exciting event:
