| Unknown Power | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The rain had stopped by the time Corinne returned home. She entered her house after the encounter with Aidan to find Alex sitting in the tiny living room -- that had a small TV, one couch, an armchair and a TV table for a light -- watching his favorite show. Feeling as frustrated with Aidan as she was, she threw down her helmet in the hallway and stormed in shutting the TV off at Alex's outrage. "Hey! What the bloody hell'd you do that for?! I was watching the telly!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He started up but she lunged at him, forcing him back into his chair and straddled him. She shoved him into a kiss, thrusting her tongue into his mouth, and began writhing about, rubbing up against him provocatively. "I'm randy," she breathed. "Come on, Alex." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He said nothing. She threw her leather jacket to the other side of the room, pulled off her shirt and bra, and opened his belt buckle. His hands drifted like magnets directly to her breasts and squeezed them playfully, pinching the nipples gently. He knew what she liked. While she concentrated on getting his pants open, he ran his tongue from her chin down to her navel, making a few round trips at her nipples. Like every man, he was obsessed with women's breasts, but this girl wanted him to obsess over them. He flicked his tongue snake-like across them, sucked on them, even nibbled on them to get an extra spur of excitement from her. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He pulled at her waistband, signaling her to take off her jeans. She stood, pulling his anarchy shirt off violently, making him notice that she had also undone his own jeans with one hand in less than thirty seconds. He pulled his pants and boxers off and threw them to the side, sitting back on the chair awaiting Corinne's stripping. She stood before him with a devious glimmer in her eyes and seductively unbuttoned, unzipped, and slowly pulled down her skintight black jeans to reveal her panties. She did a little strip dance but quickly found a rubber in her pants pocket and tossed it to him. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Strolling back to him, she licked him from neck to navel, lightly toying with his nipple rings, and grabbed onto his member, newly erect. He'd just put the rubber on and she stroked him in a way she knew would get him more aroused than before. She could feel the heat throbbing through it, felt it become stiffer in her hands, but before he climaxed, she pulled away. "No, don't stop yet," he grumbled. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Uh uh, my turn." She laid down on the couch in a compromising position -- on her back with her legs spread open before him. Knowing that he wouldn't get his way until he gave her hers -- this had happened many times before and her wrath was worse than any wrestler on TV for she didn't beat him up, she withheld sexual favors -- he got on his knees and pulled her panties off. Burying his face between her thighs, he could feel her swelling and becoming more aroused as well as he was. He ran his pierced tongue all over her, snaking it right where she wanted him to. She grabbed his head and moved it the way she pleased, groaning loudly with gratification. "Oh yeah," she grunted. "Right there...(sigh)..... oh...... more..... Mmm, faster... yes... (gasp)... oh yeah... OH...YEEAH!!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She stopped him before he went any further, causing her to quiver a little with anticipation. Her thighs were slick and wet. Sighing, she sat up saying, "Sit down." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He sat down, still tall and strong as before, and she straddled him, taking in every inch of him. She pulsed up and down, slowly at first but becoming quickly faster, thrusting into each other. He pounded into her, moving her hips with his hands, bringing her back and forth, crying, "Oh, baby...... yeah... that's the way I like it... uh... gimme some of that... brilliant... yeah, that's it..." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Seeing she could handle moving her hips at her own pace, he replaced his hands at her breasts, squeezing them even harder than before. He even leaned in to bite her nipple, receiving a shout of indulgence. "Oh yeah... harder... harder! More...... deeper! Yes!... Oh GOD yes! Yeeah!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He couldn't stay beneath her any longer, he needed control if he was to be satisfied. He pushed her onto her back again, getting on top of her and pumping deeper, faster, and stronger. She jostled about under the force, but didn't seem to mind because her screams were growing louder and more erotic. She writhed underneath him. He pulled her leg up over his shoulder to increase his feeling and got a great response from Cory. Alex's face contorted from the strain, grunting like an ape and breathing through his teeth. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Finally, shouting at levels that would definitely disturb their neighbors, they climaxed, tensing up and moving slowly to prolong the moment. They sighed and Alex stood up, taking off the rubber. "You must have been really goddamn randy, 'cause that was bloody brilliant," he said, walking into the kitchen and grabbing a beer. Cory just lay back and relaxed. That was exhausting, she thought. Thank God, it's just what I needed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She stood up, grabbed her clothes, walked to the back of the house to the bedroom, threw her clothes on the bed and went straight to take a shower. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Verdai breathlessly burst through the doors of the small apartment that she and the old woman were using. "Hodoer! It's just as you suspected. She's regaining her powers!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "You saw?" said the old woman. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I saw through her window. She was angry with the boy and she screamed in rage. She caused a metal lamp to twist and bend with her rage. Then I think she saw me at her window." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "What?? How could you be so careless!?!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "It was a mistake, Hodoer! I had no idea she would look at me!" Verdai cried, falling to her knees. "But... I followed her to the boy's house. She scolded him for playing a trick on her -- she thought he caused everything -- but they ended up in the throngs of passion. I fear they may fall into the same patterns of their past." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'm still trying to understand how they surpassed the powers of the All High Priestess and were able to get here in the first place." The old woman stared at the floor in thought. "They claimed that it was true love even in the end. They went through hell for the likes of love." She huffed in disbelief. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Verdai glanced up cautiously. "But, Hodoer, haven't you heard the tales? They say that their love was so wonderful that they couldn't let go of each other. They lived for each other, and I've even heard stories of other people who have felt the same thing." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The old woman glared at her. "Priestesses are not supposed to live through emotions. They live for their order and who they serve. Emotions get in the way." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yes, Hodoer," said Verdai. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan and Herbert got together the next day at Aidan's house while his parents were out shopping. "Listen, Herb, there's something really weird going on with Corinne." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yeah, what else is new?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "No, man. I mean like 'Twilight Zone' kind of weird. After I went home with that book of yours, I was reading it and all -- and man, I couldn't get into it if I tried my hardest -- and then Corinne rides up on her bike and starts accusing me of trying to scare the shit out of her. She says there was a person outside her window and that her lamp bent in half by itself." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Herbert's eyebrow raised in intrigue. "Maybe she was trying to make you mad again." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Oh no, not this time. She threatened to rip my balls off 'cause I had no right to scare her into complying with the bet." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Well... that is odd. Wonder what happened?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan thought for a moment. Should I tell him what happened in the music room, what happened that night before they went to the hospital, and last night? Would he scoff or be sympathetic? He decided the only way to find out was to tell him, and figured that maybe it would give some insight into what was going on with her. "Herb... remember how Corinne mentioned that little 'incident?'" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Oh, yeah. The one you wouldn't talk about. What about it?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Well... I told you on my first day that I didn't find her in any of the music rooms, but I did. She started seducing me and stuff, making out with me in one of the chairs... and then she up and leaves me saying that it was all a trick and that she just wanted to see me squirm. I hated her for it and that's why I did that whole bet with her. But... that night when she had the motorcycle accident, I put her in my truck to take her to the hospital and she kissed me again." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "So? She's just toying with you. It's how she puts herself in control with everyone she meets: messing with their heads," said Herbert matter-of-factly. "Didn't I tell you that's what she'd do?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "But it was sincere. She wasn't trying to get me excited or anything, just kissed me and then claimed she was insane for doing it. Then last night after she accused me of being a prick, she says, 'I hate you,' and kisses me again. We made out on my couch for about five minutes -- getting pretty far -- and then she acts like she doesn't know what she's doing. She ran out saying that it can't happen again, that she shouldn't be doing that at all. It was really strange." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Hmm... Do you think it has anything to do with the other language or the odd things happening at her house?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "It's possible. I'm beginning to think that maybe that book of yours might help." Aidan pursed his lips in concentration. "Right now, though, I think the only way for us to better understand what's going on is to get closer to Corinne. We should go over to her house and have a look at that broken lamp and then maybe follow her around." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I dunno... I don't think she'd want us around all the time." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'm not saying follow her 24/7! That would drive us nuts! We'll just talk to her and ask her if maybe we should do some 'investigations on this mystery.' ...... She'll probably think I'm stalking her." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'd say so. She'll think you're trying to get in her pants after your last encounter." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Well, that might be a little motivation for me." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "...... You must be joking. After all she's done to you?" Herbert stared at him. "I don't understand you Americans. You especially." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan got up and started towards his truck. "You coming?" he asked. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They got to Corinne's house soon after. Herbert was still telling Aidan that they should try to forget everything and just get on with their lives. Aidan paid no attention to him. They approached the door and Aidan knocked, surprised at the appearance of the house. That thought was soon replaced with the shock of Alex answering the door... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ... Naked. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ... With a beer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Sheep," said Alex instinctively at the sight of Aidan. "What are you doing here?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Um... I came to talk to Corinne... about her bike," he quickly added. "Is she home?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Alex eyed him suspiciously. Aidan knew that Alex didn't like him and thought that maybe it was because he seemed to be more interested in Corinne than he would have liked. "What do you really want?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "We just want to talk to her. Now, is she home or not?" asked Herbert. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| His eyes shifted to Herbert for the first time. "What is it to you?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Alex!" came a shout from behind him. Corinne appeared behind Alex. She was zipping up her pants. "Don't go tormenting everyone that comes to our door, you know. How else would we have gotten the complete collection of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' on DVD for such a bargain?" Her eyes flicked to Herbert and Aidan and she paused. "Oh, I see." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Hi, Corinne," said Aidan quietly. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "What do you want?" she asked aggravated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Herbert glanced at Aidan worriedly. "Uh... we brought your bike back," said Aidan, pointing to his truck. He'd grabbed it before they left hoping it would be a peace offering. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Great," she said. "You can put it in the garage as you leave." She grabbed the door to shut it, but Aidan stopped her. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "We also wanted to talk about your lamp." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Corinne stared at them curiously. She patted Alex on the shoulder and said, "Alex, go put some clothes on. I've got some important business to discuss with these boys." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'm coming back once I do," he said turning away. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "No, that's alright. It'll be too boring for ya." She pushed him back from the door, slapped his behind, and sent him reluctantly on his way. Once he was out of earshot, she stepped outside and shut the door. "Are you finally owning up to your prank, then?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I told you I had nothing to do with it," Aidan quickly snapped at her. He took a deep breath and continued. "Listen. We think there's something strange going on here. You speaking in tongues and your lamp breaking and all is just too much at once to be coincidence, don't you think?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Speaking in tongues? What are you talking about?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "At the hospital, you started saying all these weird words. You said something in a different language -- an entire sentence, even -- and if you don't consciously know the language, how could you have done that?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Coincidence," she spat. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Do you even know what you said?" Herbert asked. She shook her head. "You said 'I am your destiny. I am your desire' in a dead language. I'm not even sure if anyone even knows it existed in the first place." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Why would I have said that?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "That's what we're trying to figure out. But we'll need your help... and cooperation." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "... You're asking me to cooperate with you on some wild, imaginary goose chase, just to explain these words you claim I said in my sleep? Are you daft?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan and Herbert exchanged glances. "Yes," they said in unison. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She glared at the both of them in silence. "Please, Corinne?" asked Aidan sincerely. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "...... You can look at the lamp, but I'm not doing anything else for you. This is just to get my bike back. And maybe you can tell me if it shorted out or something. The electrician had no bloody clue what happened when he checked it out this morning." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Great!" shouted Herbert as he raced through the door. "Which room is yours?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'll lead you there," she mumbled. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Herbert suddenly held back as Corinne directed them to the back. "Hey Aidan. What do you think that nudity was about?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "All I can say is that I never wanted to see that, and now that I have, I keep the same judgment." They both shuddered in disgust. "Let's keep that out of mind." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I'm gonna have nightmares." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Ditto." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Here you go, boys," said Corinne finally. "What you've always wanted to see: a woman's bedroom." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Herbert mocked a laugh and entered, immediately seeing the lamp in the doorway. "Damn!" yelled Aidan. "What the hell happened? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I told you: my eyes were closed and when I opened them the lamp was like that." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The lamp -- which used to be a tall, straight floor lamp -- had been contorted into a large curlicue and a crude one at that. The bends in the metal looked as though they had been made by someone with super strength. They circled it in wonder. "You couldn't find anything in the room or in it that might have caused this?" asked Herbert. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Nothing," Corinne replied wearily. "I've said all the facts and no one gets it. Whatever. I'll just get a new lamp." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "You sure you didn't do this?" asked Aidan. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "How could I have? It's impossible." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I don't know..." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Look, man, I'm tired. I had a very interesting evening and I would like to relax today if I'm able. Maybe I can work on my music or something, but whatever I do, it doesn't include you two. Goodbye, boys." She herded them out of her room and out her front door. "Don't forget to leave my bike when you go." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan turned to Herbert and said, "Herb, go get the bike. I think I wanna talk with her a moment." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "It's your funeral," he replied. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Corinne had already shut the door, so Aidan knocked again. She came to the door again yelling, "What? Did you forget your balls or summat?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Aidan looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "You remember that I said your macho bullshit doesn't work on me, right? Even though you were very close to putting my manhood in a jar last night, I still think it's bull." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Did you come back just to tell me that?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Nope. I came back to say that I know last night was real, and it scared you, but now that I know what I'm dealing with I'm not gonna give up too easy." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "What's that supposed to mean?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I know your feelings even though you don't want me to, and your feelings don't just go away. They'll show sooner or later." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "It was a heat of the moment thing! It has no impact on my feeling towards you -- and my feelings are those that relate to vomiting!" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Heat of the moment means there was some attraction to begin with. See you at school, then," said Aidan and he turned and left. He could hear her growl in frustration, huff an exasperated sigh, and then scream out in anger. He stopped in his tracks and turned back to see that the other sound he heard -- the snap and crack of breaking wood -- was not imaginary. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A nearby tree was curling over and over like a vine, but the trunk wasn't able to keep up and was breaking apart with the stress. He'd never seen anything like it. When he turned to look at Corinne, she was still curled up in a scream and couldn't hear the tree... or even see it. "Corinne! Stop! Stop screaming!" he shouted. She couldn't hear him. He ran over to her, seeing the tree leaning dangerously near her. "CORINNE!!!" He tackled her, and she finally stopped. The tree slowed, teetered hazardously, and stood silent. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "What the hell'd you do that for?" she said angrily. "You jump everyone you think--" She saw the tree above her and gaped at it. "Wha... wha..??" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Shit, Corinne," huffed Aidan. "Does this always happen when you're pissed?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She blinked up at the mangled tree. "N-no. I... I..." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Herbert ran over from the truck and stared at Corinne. "Corinne, were you screaming last night when you saw the lamp do this?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "......Yeah. Yeah, I was." She sat up and pushed back away from the tree. "I was pissed at Aidan and Alex. I screamed and then the lamp... and the tree..." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "My God. Corinne, it's you! You caused it!" cried Herbert. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Man, give her some slack!" Aidan got up on his knees and crawled to her side. "Are you alright?" he asked softly. She nodded. "Maybe we should get you someplace quiet, get you some coffee or something. Sound good?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She blinked and looked back at him. "Yeah. Get me out of here." She stood up, grabbed a hold of Aidan's arm, and rushed to the truck. "What's wrong with me? How can I do things like that without ever knowing how??" she asked, staring blankly ahead of her once they started to drive. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I have no idea," said Aidan, holding her hand. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I've got a theory," piped Herbert. "But we'll have to stop at Aidan's along the way." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "What for?" asked Aidan, making a turn towards his house. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "For the book." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| On to the next chapter! I've had enough... |
