If you look around backstage, there are a few things that are certainly missing. Reckless and Pegasus Warrior haven't been seen in the EWA since their little mishap at the Pay Per View! Are they too scared to show their faces? Or are they still healing from their injuries suffered during that match? We all saw Pegasus Warrior get torched by Mr. DFA, and Reckless was DFA'd off the scaffold! Thats gonna leave a few marks! I'm anxious to see if Reckless and Peggy show up this week on Heat...
Lets look at the EWA Heavyweight Champions since the EWA re-opened on October of last year... We first had The Brink, who retired after the first Pay Per View when he lost to Zed. Then, we had Zed, who had backstage problems with Tom Stone which made him work under protest for the last month of his reign. The title was then won by Deuce, who had a serious back injury which prevented him from wrestling often. He retired after his last match, at Any Means Necessary. And at that Pay Per View, Cody Covington won the Heavyweight Title. His 10 day reign set a record, for the shortest Heavyweight Title reign ever. The Hustler beat him for the title on Tuesday Night Heat, then lost the title contraversially at NC 17 "Pure Violence" 2000, when Tom Stone counted out BOTH men. Now, Chris Jericho has the title. Since he has been champion, he has continued to take an active role in the company, and is proving to the world that he is a deserving champion. He has vowed to defend his title EVERY week, and is starting this trend by defending his title this week on Heat against Hacker. To me, Jericho is prooving that he's going to be one of the only champions who is going to continue his active role as Heavyweight Champion until the day he loses it. The EWA hasn't had one of these champions in a long time, and is in dire need of one. Stone says that Jericho doesn't deserve to be Champ, but I think Stone NEEDS Jericho to be the active champion that he is going to become.
What's up with this Thorn / Brink situation?? They have a BIG match at the Pay Per View, and almost kill each other. Then, Stone comes out and says that the match is over because they're ruining too much of his equipment. He then announces that they will be having a re-match on Heat, and leaves the ring while they lay unconcious, giving them no choice about it. What the hell?! Where did Stone come from? Does he honestly think that these two are going to have the same type of intense match on Heat? Does he actually think that they're fighting to see who's the better man?? Don't ask me... I'm lost in this situation. Hopefully this match on Heat will answer some of my questions...
Random thought: How long will it be until we see a Team Ballz reunion? Not to start the rumor-mill going, but think about it. Is it a coincidence that in the span of about 2 months, we've witnessed the return of some significant old-schoolers like Serial Thrylla, Chandler and Nomad? Now that all of these men have gotten their "feet wet in the EWA waters" once again, could a reunion be around the corner? Or are all of these men content to reach solo greatness? It'll be interesting to see!
And speaking of Nomad, I think he drove Dino Delsante out of the EWA at No Fear! Dino was dropped off the top of the ladder right through a table, which had to be a 35-40 foot drop AT LEAST! We haven't heard from Dino since, and he has no scheduled appearances at all. Is he just giving himself time to heal in the hospital, or is he done with the EWA? Now that Nick Diamante and Deuce are respectivly GONE, who does he have left?? ZED?? HA! I'll talk about Zed in a second, but the point I'm trying to make is that Dino used to feel safe in the EWA becuase he had people protecting him behind every corner he turned. Now, there's nobody. 3D is no more... Thurston Howell has disappeared... Diamante is gone... Deuce is out... he has nobody! In a few weeks, Dino has his invitational tournament. In this tournament are Nick Diamante, Vince Di Nardo, Deuce, The Hustler, and all of the MVP! All those guys are Dino's closest friends! Was everyone right?? Is Dino NOTHING without Nick and Deuce??
Where the heck is "Top Dollar" Vinny D? Good question simple answer! As we all know, Vince was highly involved in assembling the EWA Tag Team Title tournament last month, and my sources tell me he's very involved backstage with the EWA, once again. It's great to see him back in the EWA lending a helping hand in the creative department. Let's not forget that Tom Stone and Vinny D were the original 2 men who decided to open the Extreme Wrestling Association!
Rumor has it that Tom Stone shelled out approximately $75, 000 to acquire the services of KoRn and The Fugees at No Fear! Damn Tom, I guess the EWA is doing some good business afterall! Can I have a raise? Maybe?
The Pay Per View saw the debut of two known names... Brandon Kearse, and Brian Nash. Kearse isn't know for his main event status, but he's a good addition to the roster. Nash, on the other hand, has been the king of many federations! Some being ACF, and the EWA's closest buddies, the NHBWF! This week on Heat, Nash has a Three Way Extreme Rules Match with The Wildman and The Hustler! And, Kearse has an Extreme Rules North American Title Match against 8-Ball! I'm looking forward to seeing these two in an EWA ring, and seeing wether or not all this hype is true or false.
Also at No Fear, the mischeivous Divine returned! He and Cody Covington are starting what seems to be a great rivalry, and the fun begins on Heat when Divine and Tito take on Ronny Garbage and Mike Basulto in a BEDROOM BRAWL! This match will take place LIVE from Divine's house, and the 4 men will brawl in Divine's bedroom! Think about that... A match in Divine's room?! I'm scared to see what that place looks like! It should be interesting!
One other match on Tuesday is a Tag Team Match, involving the ever so popular and rising, Mexican Connection! They'll be up against "The Mad Monks"! WHO?! Well, from what I hear, they're a new tag team in the EWA that apparantly would make The Regulators and Da BJ Boyz look pathetic! I don't see how that could be true... If these guys are so great, then why haven't we heard from them before? Why just now?? All the hype should be layed to rest this Tuesday, as the Mexican Connection take on The Mad Monks!
Now, onto the bad part... The following are a list of people who have been released from the EWA, and the reasons why. Let's start with Suburban Disharmony. Early this week, Suburban Disharmony asked for their release from the EWA. The reason why has been kept confidential, for some reason. The Anatomy Of Perfection are also rumored to be leaving the EWA. Their contracts expire on June 1st, and Stone has said that he has no plans on resigning the team. Speaking of Tom Stone, when's the last time you saw some Canadian Rage?? It's been MONTHS! But, APPARANTLY, Stone is about to Rage all over the newest EWA Tag Team, Hells Henchmen! Rumors say that he is extremely upset with these two. Reason: because they've failed miserably. And I don't blame Stone... After the hell he went through with these two, you'd expect somthing good out of them! But, noooo!
But the Hells Henchmen aren't the only people lined up for some Rage. Backstage rambling has been going on, and apparanly Tom Stone is LIVID with John Babcock, aka 8-Ball! Stone signed the man because he was rumored to be a great wrestler, but all Babcock has been doing is causing problems backstage with wrestlers such as Nomad, Fallen Angel and Chris Jericho! Babcock has apparantly been posting pictures around the backstage area, and when Tom Stone found one of them, he SNAPPED! He demanded to know who was doing it, and when he found out, he had an evil smile on his face! I dont know about you guys, but Stone scares me...
And, lastly, where's Zed been lately?? He hasn't been himself since three or four week ago, when Shawn Walker entered the EWA and attacked him! Since that day, Zed has been late for shows, he has missed autograph sessions and has been taking MANY retakes of promos and interviews! I dont know whats going on with Zed, but Stone has made it known that he's not too happy about it! There have been rumors about a backstage scrap between Stone and Zed, but I can guarantee you that those rumors are completely false!
