Background Info: Madman was born as Matthew Tyler Gilman on November 19, 1974. He was the youngest of two brothers, and the most successful. Matt Gilman was the usual kid growing up in a small but popular city in the small Harford County in Maryland. He had his good times, and bad tiomes, and fun with "medicine" as he calls it, drinking, partying and smoking illegal substances. For eighteen years he had lived a normal lifestyle, and had teh reputation of a madman and odd minded pyscho, being joked of destroying schools and buildings, because he was so dark and mischievious looking.
After he graduated, he moved to Chicago, and went to college while he saved up money to open his own bar/club with long time best friend Chris Coakley. Meanwhile, in the process of doing those two, he was a part time trainee in Broken Bones Wrestling.
When he was twenty, an escaped pyscho ward prisoner was labeled to be loose and running around the Chicago area. Time went by, and he faded out of the news, to suddenly have the Maryland police recover three dead bodies in the middle of Hopkins Woods. One of them, was his younger and closest cousin Jennifer.
Matt went raging loose and nearly suicidal dealing with the death of a close one...his close one. He nearly came out of his shell and became a psychotic murderer himself. He refused to go to counseling to solve his thought to be mental illness and isolated himself from humanity. Seven moths later, while travelling to his second taped wrestling TV recording he came across the murderer crossing infront of him doing a redlight. Matt had always carried a picture of teh murderer with him, so he knew what exactly he looked like. Matt immediately went after him, and literally beat him to pieces on the street with busy traffic and on the business managed sidewalks. He ripped the murderer to shrds, and nearly killed himself in the process as well, risking his life for an avenged death.
He was arrested, and prosecuted, with several post ponings due to lawyer failures. Finally he was told that he could have no more post-pones and went to court with his brother as his attorney. The trial lasted three weeks, and in the outcome Matt was found guilty of first degree murder, even though he was never able to kill the psycho, first degree assault, and attemtpoed murder with a deadly weapon. A total of four charges were filed against him. The pyscho was sent back to the ward and shipped off to the prison over-seas for life too.
Madman was sentenced to seven years with parole in jail, and made new friends that were both guilty and fully innocent behind barred doors. They had wrestling tournametns, and the clean jailmates were allowed to build and particpate in wrestling events while in prison. Madman did so...
He improved his skill's greatly, and learned all the clean and dirty moves of all the wrestling styles, making him an all-rounder, but he was just labeled as a bit hardcore and shoot. After three years, and turned down appeals Matt was set free to return home and re-gain his life back. But when he went home, he was given a new name and a new look.
He was never tatooed, nor had as many scars on him as he did now. He earned the name Madman, resembling his whole life and previous before and after the turn of events.
He discovered the bar/club had been opened and failed to maintain a stable business wage and was shut down and put up for sale. Matt..or Madman didn't worry though, he had a new dream. He wanted to take his childhood attraction of wrestling and out it to use, with all that he has learned with his friends in jail. He went back to school, and fought his way to graduation, graduating first-tied with Charles Christopher Carroll. Two weeks later BBW, formerly known as Bad Boy Wrstling, an underdog televised wrestling program offerd him a two year contract starting with a $146,000 salary. He secrety accepted, and later made his debut...
He disappeared after the contract for at least eight months, and as one of the top wresler's went out of the business, in he came to gain his spot.
While on Jay Leno on the November 12 episode, he was asked a question of who he was before Madman. He simply blurted out that he was the main BBW attraction, and fastest growing and dying star BlackDawn. This totally ruined the whole BlackDawn gimmick worldwide. BlackDawn was supposedly killed after falling off a building with the Revolution DX's help, and soul returning to hell to suffer for the sins the mother made.
Madman was almost fired for this, and summed his statement with "That gimmick was way too unreal, and the only attention it drew was because of what types of matches and risks I was willing to take to get over on the fans. They all knew that I wasn't from hell in a fixed body in a fied world to seem humanly fine, that's the whole secret to his gimmick anyway. I honestly thought it was going to die quicker than rise, and sure enough I was right."
With that, Madman became even more popularized by the people of BBW, and won over as an anti-gimmicked wrestler, which he still is today...and no that gimmick is not a gimmick, it is for real.
With success in BBW after the second shot, he went off to OWWA with Rob Van Dam, better known now as Charles Christopher Carrol or C3 with the devastating tag team known as Venom Threat, where he took gold in almost every reign. After that, they split up and worked in different federations, and took gold with individual success throught all kinds of rising anf falling organizations. His longest run was in nWeff, a perfect federation which was surely underrated and sold out to Tommy Brents, a religious man who slapped more rules and regulations on the hardocre division of nWeff then the ten commandments written in Greek 10,000 times on paper. Madman called for his release and left town, to end up in AWA, a fed which suddenly lost everything it had due to lawsuits.
Madman is currently lost and without any place to be, but has stumbled across EWA, an organization he has been drawn too since it opened in '98.
