In this dream, I sat peacefully in Frank`s double-parked car, waiting for him to finish his quickie Christmas shopping. A normal-looking car drove up alongside and a faceless man stepped out and walked toward the open driver`s seat window of our car. He peered in, shielding his eyes from the glare of the sun.
He squinted and smiled at me, "You know, I`ve been searching for you for a long, long time."
I stared at him for a second before the panic set in. Who was this person? And why had he been looking for me? I began to roll up the window. He pressed his weight down on the window, "No, honey. Don`t do that!"
A warm sensation below my chest met my blood-curdling shriek as I watched the stranger leap back into his waiting automobile. A smoking gun clattered cruelly on the pavement. I was afraid to look down at the damage done to me. I began to yell for Frank, but he had already emerged in super slow-motion from the store, a panicked look infected his normally happy visage.
He nearly ripped off the passenger-side door and caught me by my shoulders as I slumped towards him.
"Evvy!" he gasped. "Evvy!" I struggled to speak, but only managed to squeak out Frank`s name before I closed my eyes.
I next remembered feeling soft lips encircling mine. Warm arms enveloped my limp frame. It took an eternity to open my eyes. In terror, I slowly realized that my life was being restored to my by none other than the faceless man himself! A scream rose inside of me and was promptly swallowed my offender`s all-encompassing mouth. Horrified, I had the vague notion that my own arms had reached up and wrapped themselves around his broad shoulders, and that I was kissing him back with fervor.
Still holding me tightly, he released me from his lip-lock and stared right through my confused eyes. "I found you at last. I`d been waiting for so long."
I lost consciousness again. Woke up suddenly in the safety of my own darkened room. Who ... where was I? Turned on the lights, half-expecting to see his familiar form at the foot of my bed. I was alone and morbidly frightened.
Haven`t had a peaceful night of sleep since.
